Sundance Channel Announces New Original Scripted Project "Appropriate Adult"

Network's Second Original Mini-Series Stars Academy Award(R) nominee Emily Watson and Dominic West (The Wire)

Two-Part Mini Series to Air Fall 2011

New York, NY - July 21, 2011 - On the heels of two Emmy(R) nominations for its first scripted drama "Carlos," Sundance Channel announces a second original drama, APPROPRIATE ADULT. Based on true events, Appropriate Adult tells the story of British serial killer Fred West and his relationship with his "appropriate adult," Janet Leach. In the UK, an "appropriate adult" is appointed to sit in on police interviews with children or vulnerable adults to safeguard their interests.

Appropriate Adult features acclaimed actor Dominic West (The Wire, 300) portraying Fred West, with Academy Award(R) nominated actress Emily Watson (Hilary and Jackie, Breaking the Waves) starring as Janet Leach. Set to premiere on Sundance Channel this fall, the two-part miniseries is a dramatization based on meticulous research and was shot in Manchester, England.

A co-production of Sundance Channel and ITV Studios, Appropriate Adult is written by award-winning writer Neil McKay, and focuses on the untold story of how Fred West and his wife Rosemary were brought to justice. Fred and Rosemary West were accused of murdering at least a dozen women in the UK between 1967 and 1978.
