DISNEY CHANNEL TO DEBUT SECOND SEASON OF HIT DANCE-THEMED COMEDY "SHAKE IT UP" ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

Winner of "Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off - 'Shake It Up' Edition" To Perform in an Episode

The season premiere of "Shake It Up," the hit dance themed comedy series that has ranked No. 1 among Kids 6-11 and Tweens since its 2010 premiere, will be presented SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. In the one hour season opener, CeCe and Rocky risk being booted from "Shake It Up, Chicago" -- and learn a lesson about friendship and judgment - when, on a group bus trip, they make a detour to a reality show audition.

The second season will include a guest appearance by the soon-to-be-announced winner of "Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off - 'Shake It Up' Edition," plus the dance troop Instant Noodles ("America's Best Dance Crew"), among others. Sixteen new songs, including "Up, Up, & Away" by the international singing group Blush, will be featured in the episodes. Among the guest stars are Atticus Shaffer ("The Middle," "Fish Hooks") who plays Zane, a neighbor Flynn suspects is an alien, Ben Savage ("Boy Meets World") as Andy, a famous blogger who is not a fan of "Shake It Up, Chicago," and Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur ("Hairspray") as Miss Nancy, CeCe and Rocky's former dance teacher.

In addition to ranking as TV's No. 1 series among Kids 6-11 and Tweens, through its first 20 original episodes, "Shake It Up" is on track to be the No. 1 cable series of all time among Tweens. Its soundtrack is No. 1 on the Billboard soundtrack charts.

On Tuesday, September 13, DisneyChannel.com will launch a new game, "Up, Up, and Away," where users can help Rocky and CeCe run, climb and jump through a virtual obstacle course as they practice for a high-flying dance act.

The series stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya as CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue, Davis Cleveland as Flynn Jones, Roshon Fegan as Ty Blue, Adam Irigoyen as Deuce Martinez, Kenton Duty as Gunther Hessenheffer and Caroline Sunshine as Tinka Hessenheffer. Recurring are R. Brandon Johnson as Gary Wilde and Anita Barone as Georgia Jones.

"Shake It Up" was created by Chris Thompson and is executive-produced by Rob Lotterstein ("The War at Home," "Ellen") and Jeff Strauss ("Reba," "All of Us," "Friends"). "Shake It Up" is a production of It's A Laugh Productions, Inc. It carries a TV-G parental guideline.

Disney Channel is a 24-hour kid-driven, family inclusive television network that taps into the world of kids and families through original series and movies. Currently available on basic cable in over 99 million U.S. homes and to millions of other viewers on Disney Channels around the world, Disney Channel is part of the Disney/ABC Television Group.
