LIFETIME LAUNCHES PROJECT RUNWAY SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE

Season Seven Winner SethAaron Henderson to Judge Entries Vying for $35,000 worth in Fashion Design Scholarships

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 24, 2011) - Lifetime has launched the Project Runway Scholarship Challenge, in which $35,000 worth in scholarships will be awarded to assist six fashion design students in their pursuit of a college degree and further support their dreams of becoming a designer. SethAaron Henderson, Season Seven winner of the Emmy(R) Award-nominated reality show, will review the Challenge's entries and select its six scholarship recipients.

All applicants to the Project Runway Scholarship Challenge will be required to submit sketches and photos of their design work, along with an essay that answers the question, "If a Lifetime Original Movie was made about your life, what would your character be wearing; and why?" Entries must be postmarked no later than October 1, 2011 and received no later than October 15, 2011. A total of six winners will be announced in December, when the first place winner will be awarded with $10,000 and the five runners up will receive $5,000 each. The Project Runway Scholarship Challenge is open to students 18 and over and in good academic standing studying fashion at an accredited post-secondary school in the United States. Students must be enrolled as full-time students pursuing a degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in a 4.0 scaling system, with minimum 15 credits completed in their studies. The Challenge's official application, rules and details are available at mylifetime.com/scholarship.

Hosted by supermodel and fashion maven Heidi Klum, the hit series Project Runway provides budding designers with an opportunity to launch their careers in fashion, under the watchful eyes of mentor and Liz Claiborne Chief Creative Officer Tim Gunn and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. The water-cooler season eight of the series last year included its expansion to a 90-minute format, which led to significant season-to-season ratings growth as viewers were hungry for more drama and fashions on and off the runway, making Project Runway 2010's number one rated and most watched reality program on ad-supported cable among Women. Noted as one of Project Runway's most emotional and best seasons ever, last year saw one of the most memorable moments in the program's history with designer Mondo Guerra bravely revealing on national television he was HIV positive, having kept his status a secret for over a decade. The show recently was nominated for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program category, won a 2011 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Program and also was nominated for a Critics' Choice Television Award in the Reality-Competition Program category.

Currently in its ninth season, Project Runway is produced by The Weinstein Company, Bunim-Murray Productions and Full Picture. Executive producers include Bob and Harvey Weinstein (Co-Chairmen of The Weinstein Company), and Meryl Poster of The Weinstein Company, Jon Murray and Sara Rea of Bunim-Murray Productions, Heidi Klum, and Jane Cutler and Desiree Gruber of Full Picture Entertainment. Barbara Schneeweiss oversees the production on behalf of The Weinstein Company. Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy and David Hillman of Lifetime also executive produce. The Weinstein Company (TWC) was created by Bob and Harvey Weinstein, the brothers who founded Miramax Films Corporation in 1979. TWC is a multi-media company that officially launched on October 1, 2005.
