TRAVEL CHANNEL'S EMMY(R) AWARD-WINNING HIT SERIES "ANTHONY BOURDAIN: NO RESERVATIONS" RETURNS FOR EIGHTH SEASON ON MONDAY, APRIL 9 AT 9:00 PM, ET/PT

Seasoned Traveler and Cultural Anthropologist Bourdain Continues to Discover New Locales and Delicacies Around the World

CHEVY CHASE, MD (February 15, 2012) - Expect the unexpected from the eighth season of the Emmy award-winning series, "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations," premiering Monday, April 9 at 9:00 p.m., ET/PT on Travel Channel. Throughout the weekly one-hour series, Anthony Bourdain takes viewers to 15 locations, across six continents, which surprise him and defy his expectations - for better or for worse. In some cases, he will be challenged by what he sees, and in others, he is there to just soak in the good life.

"Tony Bourdain never disappoints. With his candid humor and insatiable appetite for knowledge, he effortlessly unveils the truth about every location he visits in this new season of 'No Reservations.' Every week, he gives viewers a brief glimpse of the world through his eyes," said Andy Singer, SVP, Programming & Production, Travel Channel.

Season eight of "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" is another season of firsts for the host. He visits some locations for the first time; and continues to try new things that sometimes challenge his better judgment. Bourdain plays with a still fully-venomed King Cobra snake in Penang; eats a pre-made egg salad sandwich from a convenience store in Japan; and is even kidnapped by The Black Keys rock band and tailgates with his friend and sidekick Zamir in Kansas City. His adventures are quite varied and even include being gouged, cupped and drained of blood by a Finnish massage therapist, playing chinquilho and drinking ginjinha liquor in Lisbon; and riding a BMX bike on a Mexican beach.

"New cameras, new lenses, and the best, most creative crew in the game takes this season of 'No Reservations' to a whole new level. As always, we're looking for challenging locations, thought provoking subjects--or simply a really good time," said Bourdain.

In the premiere episode, Bourdain travels to Mozambique, a country emerging from a history of colonial oppression and years of brutal civil war. It's filled with heartbreak and beauty - and amazingly good food that mixes African, Portuguese and Indian influences. From ghostly Portuguese ruins on Mozambique Island where Vasco da Gama first landed in 1498, to the vibrant, teeming metropolis that is present day Maputo, Mozambique doesn't look like any place Bourdain has been so far. While in Beira, Bourdain is confronted with one of the legacies of Mozambique's sixteen-year civil war, "deslocados," or the displaced. In one abandoned hotel alone, between two and three thousand of these deslocados live without running water or electricity. Mozambique has a difficult history, but despite certain challenges to overcome, it's a place with a brighter future. "Of the 15 locations, so far Mozambique has been the biggest surprise," added Bourdain. It was inspiring to see a country with so difficult a history and so much to rebuild filled with so much hope - and truly delicious food. It's a breathtaking and little seen location."

Crisscrossing the globe, additional locations featured in this season's "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" include Austin, TX; Baja, Mexico; the Burgundy region of France; the Croatian Coast, the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy; Finland; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Kansas City, MO; Lisbon, Portugal; Penang, Malaysia; and Sydney, Australia. Bourdain also joins master chefs from around the world in Japan for the "Cook it Raw" annual event.

"Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" is produced by Zero Point Zero for Travel Channel. For Zero Point Zero, the executive producers are Chris Collins, Lydia Tenaglia and Anthony Bourdain. The executive producer for Travel Channel is Stone Roberts.
