E! TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY: LINDSAY LOHAN - FEB 20 @ 8:00 PM ET/PT

"E! True Hollywood Story: Lindsay Lohan" Premieres February 20, 2012 At 8:00 PM, ET/PT

(Los Angeles, CA, February 16, 2012) - It's a story seen far too often in Hollywood: a talented young star starts off so promising, but after a series of bad decisions their life begins to fall apart. Some, luckily, survive the pitfalls of fame - others meet tragic ends. Now, in a one hour E! True Hollywood story, the turbulent life of gossip-column fixture, Lindsay Lohan is examined. While she was once center stage for her acting ability, that has now been over-shadowed by a public battle with substance abuse, a volatile love-life and embarrassing family drama. THS presents her complete story with the help of friends and associates who offer insight as to what triggered her destructive behavior and asks the question - can this supremely talented actress avoid becoming a Hollywood statistic and rise to the top again? The E! True Hollywood Story: Lindsay Lohan airs on February 20 at 8:00 PM on E!

Her first big break...

When Lindsay was three, her parents brought her into the famous FORD modeling studios. "She was adorable, really cute and she really came alive in front of the camera," Katie Ford, CEO FORD, tells E!

Trouble at home...

While Lindsay was hitting it big in the commercial world, her father was having legal troubles. He was incarcerated for charges related to securities fraud and was found in contempt of court. "She wasn't really told much about it. Lindsay just thought he was...doing business," Jessica Jutt, Lohan's friend, tells E! "When she was old enough to realize that he was actually in trouble with the law, I think it just made her grow as a person."

The Lure of Hollywood...

After "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls," Lohan had established herself as the next "it girl." As a result, she became immersed in the "Hollywood Scene." "It was almost like she was a politician that wanted to please everyone and you know when you're in Hollywood there are a lot of different parties that you get invited to..." Mike Heller, Lindsay's fomer commercial manager, reveals to E!

Mounting pressure...

As rumors of Lindsay's partying increased, so did the drama at home. Mike Heller explains, "She was dealing with the break-up of her mother and father, which I think was very painful for her. She was also helping her mother raise the three other children. She was the bread winner; she was the one that was helping support her family. And then her father got into the problems he got into. It's a lot of pressure and it's very hard for someone at such a young age to have to deal with."

Hard Times...

Lindsay Lohan has unfortunately had legal troubles and made multiple trips to rehab facilities. "Dealing with a substance abuse problem as a public figure is very, very challenging. With the world watching with fascinating and waiting for you to fail, it almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy," Dr. Ramani Durvurula, a clinical psychologist who did not treat Lohan, tells E!

A rocky romance...

In 2008, Lohan met her (now ex) girlfriend Samantha Rosen. "Lindsay and Samantha had a famously volatile relationship. They would fight a lot." E!'s Ken Baker tells E! "I would talk to Lindsay sometimes. And she would be really interested to know, 'what's Samantha doing? Where is she? Who is she with?' She not only loved her, she obsessed over her."

The "missing passport" debacle...

By 2010 things still were not looking up for Lohan. She claimed to have had her passport stolen and missed an important court date. Her friend, Lady Victoria Hervey recalls the incident with E!, "Things somehow escalate with her and it's really never her fault."

Moving forward...

Currently, Lohan is completing court-mandated community service. Ken Baker tells E!, "Lindsay does not want to go back to jail." Mark Waters, who directed Lohan in "Freaky Friday," tells E! "she's somebody who has kind of been through a lot of stuff. She's become more complete individual and that complexity can only make you a great actress again."

Be sure to buckle up for the one-hour Lilo roller coaster ride as THS presents Lohan's complete story and begs the question: can this talented young woman get back on top?

THS: Lindsay Lohan premieres on Feb. 20th at 8:00 PM on E!
