MEDIA ALERT

MAMIE GUMMER JOINS IMPRESSIVE LIST OF "THE BIG C" GUEST STARS

Season Three to Premiere April 8th at 9:30p ET/PT on SHOWTIME(R)

The stellar list of guest stars dropping in on THE BIG C continues as rising stage and screen actor Mamie Gummer (Off the Map, The Good Wife) joins an already impressive slate of recently announced stars appearing in several episodes of the dark comedy series starring Laura Linney in her Golden Globe(R) Award-winning and Emmy(R)-nominated role. The ten-episode production recently wrapped production in Stamford, Connecticut before heading to Puerto Rico to film the season finale. In addition to Gummer, Hamish Linklater (The New Adventures of Old Christine) and Brian D'Arcy James (Smash) have also signed on for the third season, which will premiere on Sunday, April 8th at 9:30 PM ET/PT on SHOWTIME.

THE BIG C is created and written by Darlene Hunt, who serves as executive producer, along with writer/showrunner Jenny Bicks, Laura Linney, Neal H. Moritz and Vivian Cannon. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television. The series focuses on Cathy Jamison (Linney), a reserved, suburban wife/mother/teacher whose terminal cancer diagnosis forces her to shake up her life and find the light side of a dark situation.

This season, Cathy sets about finding more joy in her life. Gummer and Linklater will star as a young couple who could give Cathy a shot at said joy with an unexpected offer. Meanwhile, Tim (D'Arcy James) will help Sean (John Benjamin Hickey) get over his past relationship in a most unusual way. Previous guest stars announced include Susan Sarandon (Jeff Who Lives at Home) as motivational speaker Joy; Alan Alda (30 Rock) returns as Cathy's oncologist; Allison Janney (The Help) will play a famous Hollywood producer; Victor Garber's (Alias, Web Therapy) Willy Wanker and Sean will go mano-a-mano over ownership of an adult phone line; and Tammy Blanchard (A Gifted Man) plays Giselle, who unintentionally brings some much-needed order to Sean's chaotic life.
