USA Network Promotes Bill McGoldrick to EVP, Original Scripted Programming

USA NETWORK PROMOTES BILL McGOLDRICK TO EVP, ORIGINAL SCRIPTED PROGRAMMING

NEW YORK - April 24, 2012 - USA Network announced today that Bill McGoldrick will be elevated to executive vice president, original scripted programming, continuing to oversee all USA scripted development of drama and comedy series, long-form and event programming. The announcement was made by Jeff Wachtel, co-president, USA and co-head of original content, Universal Cable Productions, and to whom McGoldrick continues to report.

"Bill has an incredible track record in developing and managing the success of our strong and diverse slate of scripted programming," said Wachtel. "We know he will continue to lead the network to even greater achievements, this summer and beyond."

This year McGoldrick and his team prove that USA is summer's most beloved brand with the production and launch of the network's most ambitious slate of originals yet, five nights a week, with the six returning audience and critic's favorites, ROYAL PAINS, NECESSARY ROUGHNESS, BURN NOTICE, SUITS, WHITE COLLAR and COVERT AFFAIRS, the newest series launch, COMMON LAW, and the television event of the season, POLITICAL ANIMALS.

Since McGoldrick's return to USA, the network's original programming has led USA to its sixth consecutive year at #1, broke records last year with the most-watched summer in cable history, and have nearly doubled the amount originals on the air, while developing and launching award-winning and critically-acclaimed original programming, including SUITS, NECESSARY ROUGHNESS and FAIRLY LEGAL, as well the addition of new original series COMMON LAW. With the recent announcement of the event drama series POLITICAL ANIMALS, starring multi award-winner Sigourney Weaver, McGoldrick and his team are continuing to grow and diversify the portfolio by expanding into new genres and reaching new audiences while staying true to the brand's core identity. He recently led the network's foray into half-hour comedy with the announcement the half-hour scripted comedy pilot LOCAL TALENT starring Nathan Lane and Cheyenne Jackson.

McGoldrick originally joined USA in 1998 as an executive assistant and returned to the network in 2009. In his tenure at USA, he's worked on various prime-time dramas and comedies for both USA and Syfy, including "The Invisible Man," "Good Vs. Evil" and a few of USA's biggest successes, including PSYCH, MONK and THE 4400. McGoldrick most recently served as senior vice president, original scripted programming for the network.

From 2005-2007, he was vice president, original series programming at Spike Television, overseeing the launch of the channel's first dramas ("Kill Point" and "Blade") and was named senior vice president in 2007, overseeing development of the network's first comedies, "Factory," "Blue Mountain State" and "Players Hut."

McGoldrick graduated with a BS from the University of Southern California and resides in Los Angeles.
