AMERICA'S SON (FOX, New!) - Paul Redford ("The Newsroom") has sold a new drama to the network billed as a contemporary spin on William Shakespeare's "Hamlet." The Washington, D.C.-set hour revolves around "a renegade JFK Jr. type returns home to D.C. to discover his father's - a beloved presidential hopeful - death was no accident and he makes it his mission to untangle a complicated web of family secrets, expose the truth and ultimately avenge the murder." Amblin Television and Sony Pictures Television are co-producing the hour, which has a penalty attached, with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)

Then there's an untitled half-hour for ABC about "an immigrant mother and her two grown-up, Americanized children who must learn to work together when they open a restaurant with the last of their money." The former project has a penalty attached. Currently Chun serves as a consulting producer on the studio-based "Happy Endings." (Deadline.com)

ABC Studios is behind the presumably single-camera project, which has a script commitment, with Charlie Gogolak, Shine America's Carolyn G. Bernstein and Electric Dynamite's Jack Black also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
