[03/01/13 - 02:56 PM] "Drop Dead Diva" Alive Once Again at Lifetime By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Lifetime is bringing back its recently axed drama "Drop Dead Diva" for a fifth season, Deadline.com reports.
The Brooke Elliott-led hour got the boot in January however producer Sony Pictures Television went back to the cable channel with "a new financial model" that proved to be good enough for a new 13-episode season.
Sony is no stranger to post-cancellation revivals: the studio's "Unforgettable," "Damages" and "Breaking In" all received second lives despite initially getting the axe.
"Diva" averaged 2.297 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 last season, putting it behind Lifetime's two other scripted originals "Army Wives" (3.084 million viewers, 1.0 adults 18-49 rating) and "The Client List" (2.515 million viewers, 0.9 adults 18-49 rating).
