Former MLB Manager Manny Acta Joins ESPN in Multiplatform Role

Former Major League Baseball manager Manny Acta has joined ESPN and ESPN Deportes as an MLB analyst. Acta made his debut on the March 10th edition of Baseball Tonight and will provide insights and analysis for various platforms, including Baseball Tonight, Beisbol Esta Noche, SportsCenter and other studio programming. He will also contribute to ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes Radio.

"I'm excited to bring my insights and opinions to both English and Spanish-speaking audiences on ESPN and ESPN Deportes," said Acta. I love talking about baseball, so being a Baseball Tonight analyst is a perfect job for me."

Added Mike McQuade, vice president, production, "Manny's wealth of knowledge will strengthen our multiplatform coverage of Major League Baseball. In addition to his great understanding of the game, Manny's energetic personality and passion for baseball will be a great asset to ESPN and ESPN Deportes."

Most recently, Acta served as manager of the Cleveland Indians, a position he held for three seasons. He began his big league managerial career with the Washington Nationals in 2006. Then-37, Acta was the youngest active manager in Major League Baseball.

Acta played in the Houston Astros minor league system for seven years, eventually becoming a coach in the organization in 1991. From 2002-2005, he served as third base coach of the Montreal Expos. He held the same position with the New York Mets for two seasons before joining the Nationals as manager.

Recently, Acta was named general manager of the Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Professional Baseball League. He managed the Tigres in 2003-2004, leading the club to the Caribbean World Series Championship. In addition to his experience on the field, Acta has previously served as a Spanish-language baseball analyst for Fox Sports.
