VACATIONS "TO DIE FOR" FEATURED IN INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY'S NEW SERIES "MURDER IN PARADISE"

(Silver Spring, MD) - They traveled abroad for a dream vacation and a short rest but, soon they would be facing a nightmare - and resting in eternal peace. In Investigation Discovery's new series MURDER IN PARADISE, tropical oases become the backdrop for cold and senseless killings when unwitting victims head for idyllic destinations, hoping that a change in scenery will offer respite from everyday concerns. But they learn the hard way that romantic sunsets and enchanting culture often hide danger and death. With six stories of vacations "to die for," MURDER IN PARADISE premieres Saturday, April 13 at 9 PM E/P on Investigation Discovery.

"We all like taking vacation as an opportunity to calm down and loosen up, but let MURDER IN PARADISE serve as a cautionary tale to keep your guard up as well," said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager of Investigation Discovery. "The next time you take in some rays or sip a daiquiri, don't let them blind you to the killer who may be in the cabana next door."

The first two episodes of MURDER IN PARADISE are:

Charmed to Death premieres Saturday, April 13 at 9 PM E/P In December 1998, Julie Scully leaves her family for a romantic affair in the gorgeous Greek seaside town of Kavala. One month later, she goes missing in Athens. Her younger boyfriend, George Skiadopolous, insists she stormed off after a lover's spat, but inconsistencies in his story raise suspicions. A private detective learns that Skiadopolous has a history of violence and mental illness. When Greek authorities refuse to investigate, Scully's loved ones attract international media attention to keep her case at the forefront of discussion. Only then do police discover a chilling love story cut short by a deadly spark of passion.

Brazilian Knockout premieres Saturday, April 20 at 9 PM E/P On July 10, 2009, former boxing champ Arturo Gatti gets in a heated quarrel with his wife, Amanda. They've traveled to the idyllic resort of Porto de Galinhas, Brazil, to repair a fractured marriage. But hours later, Amanda finds Arturo dead on the hotel room floor. Under interrogation, Amanda's changing story leads to her arrest, but she is released just 10 days after the funeral. Local police now declare Arturo's death a suicide by hanging, though evidence seems to suggest otherwise when two private investigators recreate the crime scene. Canadian courts have no choice but to award Amanda her late husband's millions. Although Arturo's grieving family vows to continue fighting for what they believe is the truth, a Brazilian judge closed the case in March of 2013.

Other episodes feature the stories of:

· Richard Post in Tijuana, Mexico

· Jake and Kelley Branam off the coast of Bimini Island in the Bahamas

· Shannon Martin in Golfito, Costa Rica

· Anthony Ashley-Cooper, the 10th Earl of Shaftesbury, in Cannes, France
