UNTITLED DWAYNE JOHNSON PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Dwayne Johnson (Pain & Gain) is set to star in a new comedy pilot at the pay channel about "the lives of athletes - some retired some still active - living in Miami." He'll play one of them as well as executive produce alongside his manager Dany Garcia, Peter Berg and HBO fixtures Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson. Levinson penned the half-hour while Berg is attached to direct. Production then is targeted for a fall start. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Drew Pinsky won't participate in future installments - celebrity or otherwise - of VH1's "Rehab with Dr. Drew" (ZachSangandtheGang.com); Harry Connick, Jr. has been approached about being a judge on the next season of "American Idol" (EOnline.com); Emilia Clarke will guest star on "Futurama" as a romantic connection for Zoidberg, "a flower stand owner who, ironically enough, was born with no sense of smell" (EW.com); "Cougar Town" supervising producer Blake McCormick will succeed Ric Swartzlander as showrunner for its fifth season (Deadline.com); Erica Messer has closed a new two-year overall deal with ABC Studios to continue as showrunner of "Criminal Minds" (Deadline.com); and Kevin Weisman will drop by "Perception" as "an AUSA official investigating a shooting involving Rachael Leigh Cook's Moretti" (TVLine.com).
