12 MONKEYS (Syfy, New!) - Terry Gilliam's 1995 feature - about "a convicted criminal in a post-apocalyptic future where the Earth's population is forced to live underground after a deadly virus" - is being developed as a drama series at the cable channel. Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett ("Nikita") are penning the 90-minute pilot, which is being eyed for a straight-to-series pickup. Jon Cassar is attached to direct with Atlas Entertainment's Chuck Roven and Richard Suckle also serving as executive producers. (THR.com)

LAWLESS (ABC, New!) - K.J. Steinberg ("Mistresses") has sold a potential drama to the Alphabet about "a maverick lawyer who returns to her hometown to right the wrongs she left behind." Said hour, from Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers's ABC Studios-based Shondaland banner, is inspired by the real life of crusading trucker-turned-lawyer Wynona Ward, founder of Have Justice Will Travel. U.K.-based producers Esther Douglas and Tara Cook will also serve as executive producers alongside the aforementioned auspices. (Deadline.com)

WARRIORS OF OZ (Syfy, New!) - Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) is developing a new mini-series at the cable channel billed as "a fantasy-action reimagining of the classic story in which a warrior from present day Earth is transported to a post-apocalyptic future Oz where he must team up with three other warriors, Heartless, Brainless, and Coward, in order to defeat the evil Wizard who has enslaved the land." Universal Cable Productions is behind the project, which Bekmambetov will executive produce and potentially direct. The search is underway for a writer. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Roger Bart will guest on the upcoming final season of "How I Met Your Mother" as "an employee at the hotel in Farhampton where Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) are set to tie the knot" (TVGuide.com); David Denman will recur on "Parenthood" as "a recently unemployed stay-at-home dad who meets Julia (Erika Christensen) when they both end up with the least-desirable volunteer job at their children's school" (EOnline.com); and Steven Cabral has booked a role on ABC Family's "Ravenswood" as Raymond Collins, presumably the brother of Nicole Gale Anderson's Miranda (ETOnline.com).
