USA NETWORK INVITES "PSYCH" FANS TO "PSYCH ALL-NIGHT" ON FRIDAY, MARCH 21 LEADING UP TO THE SERIES FINALE EPISODE
The 'Night of a Million Hundred Goodbyes' to Include a Cast Favorite Show Marathon, Fan Farewell Videos and the 'Ultimate Psych-Off'
UNIVERSAL CITY, CA - March 17, 2014 - As part of the network's farewell to PSYCH, USA is inviting fans of the series to stay up for "Psych All-Night" on Friday, March 21. This six-hour marathon dubbed a "Night of a Million Hundred Goodbyes" will begin at midnight and feature six of the cast's favorite episodes from the last eight seasons. Additionally, the all-nighter will include goodbye messages from the stars and fan farewells to PSYCH. PSYCH-Os can also compete in the "Psych-Off LIVE" to show off their fan knowledge and win prizes.
Fans will be invited to say goodbye to PSYCH by uploading their own farewell video to Instagram using the hashtag #FarewellPsych. Several of these personal messages will be shown throughout the "Psych All-Night" marathon, where at the top of each hour, James Roday, Dulé Hill, Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson and Kirsten Nelson introduce their favorite episode with a heartfelt goodbye to the fans. The socially-charged evening will include showcasing fan tweets on-air and the night's social activity will be captured on the "Psychville" part of the "Psych All-Night" website (www.psych.usanetwork.com).
Last February, the first-ever PSYCH all-nighter broke social media records for the network with an impressive 172K mentions. Leading into the event, PSYCH fans voted more than 280,000 times for their favorite episodes to appear in the slumber party, driving 157,000 Twitter mentions, reaching more than 22.4 million people and launching 12 trending hashtags - eight domestically and four globally.
PSYCH's series finale "The Breakup," with guest stars Mira Sorvino and Billy Zane, airs on Wednesday, March 26 at 9/8c. It is followed by "Psych After Pshow," an hour-long live special to bid farewell to USA's favorite faux detective series, featuring series stars and creator and executive producer Steve Franks.
PSYCH stars Roday as Shawn, a police consultant who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute the precinct detectives think he's psychic. With help from his best friend and reluctant sidekick Gus (Hill), he continues to solve the mysterious and often bizarre crimes of the Santa Barbara Police Department. PSYCH also stars Bernsen, Omundson, Lawson and Nelson. The dedicated fans, affectionately known as PSYCH-Os, show their love for one of USA's longest running original series by engaging with the show in a myriad of ways. Engagement over the past seven seasons has included the Emmy-nominated HashTag Killer murder mystery game, which attracted over half a million players. Over 9,000 taglines were submitted by fans who were tasked with creating and selecting season seven's show tag line, with "Real. Fake. I've Heard It Both Ways" garnering the highest vote. Additionally, east and west coast viewers chose the ending of the 100th episode. More than 4,500 fans have attended the annual PSYCH presentation at San Diego Comic-Con and a multitude engage via social media with the cast every day.
