HISTORY OF MUSIC (HBO; W: George Mastras & Terence Winter; D: Martin Scorsese) - P.J. Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street) is back in business with Martin Scorsese, having been cast in his drama pilot, about Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale), a cocaine-fueled record exec in New York City circa 1977, when punk, disco and a new form of music called hip-hop collided. He'll play Scott Levitt, Finestra's partner, in the project, which also stars Jack Quaid, Juno Temple, Max Casella, Olivia Wilde and Ray Romano. (Deadline.com)


RETURNED, THE (A&E; W: Carlton Cuse & Raelle Tucker; D: Keith Gordon) - Carl Lumbly ("Alias") is the latest face bound for drama series, which focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. He'll play Leon Wright, "a kindly, perceptive man, the minister of a local church. Radiating compassion, he tries to guide Rowan (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) through difficult times." Agnes Bruckner, India Ennenga, Jeremy Sisto, Tandi Wright, Mark Pelligrino, Leah Gibson, Rhys Ward, Sophie Lowe, Kevin Alejandro, Mat Vairo and Sandrine Holt also star. (THR.com)
