GRAMMY(R) AWARD-WINNING BAND FOO FIGHTERS TO PERFORM A WEEK'S WORTH OF SONGS ON CBS's "LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN," PAYING TRIBUTE TO INSPIRATIONS FOR THEIR NEW ALBUM, "SONIC HIGHWAYS," MONDAY, OCT. 13-FRIDAY, OCT. 17

Multiple GRAMMY(R) Award-winning rock band Foo Fighters will take up residence at the Ed Sullivan Theater for one week when they and special guests perform songs that inspired the creation of their forthcoming album, Sonic Highways, on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, Monday, Oct. 13-Friday, Oct. 17 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will sit down for an interview with Letterman on Monday, Oct. 13.

The Foo Fighters' week on the LATE SHOW will coincide with the Oct. 17 premiere of their eight-part HBO series, "Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways." The series chronicles the making of the band's album of the same name, to be released Nov. 10 on Roswell/RCA, which took place in eight American cities - Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C. Both the series and the album feature local music legends from each city, some of whom will be joining the band during their week-long LATE SHOW visit.

For the album and series, described by Grohl as "a love letter to the history of American music," he and bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear wrote and recorded one song in each of the eight cities, delving into the local musical currents and exploring how each region shaped the featured musicians in their formative years and the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns. Every lyric to each song was written in an unprecedented experimental style, with Grohl refraining from putting down words until the last day of each music session so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews for the series and other local personalities who became part of the process.

"Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways" is directed by Dave Grohl for Roswell Films, a division of Roswell Records, the label that releases Foo Fighters' music. It was written by Mark Monroe and Dave Grohl, and was executive produced by Dave Grohl, James A. Rota and John Ramsay. The series is produced by Roswell Films and Therapy Content, in association with Worldwide Pants Incorporated (David Letterman's production company). The album, Sonic Highways, is available for pre-order on iTunes and at the band's album website.

The LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated. Barbara Gaines, Matt Roberts, Jude Brennan, Maria Pope and Rob Burnett are the executive producers. Jerry Foley is the director.
