GREATER GOOD, THE (ABC, New!) - Writer Caroline Williams ("Miss/Guided") and actress/director Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2) are set to team for a single-camera comedy at the Alphabet billed as "a relationship/workplace comedy set in the world of conspiracy theories." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the half-hour, which will they'll executive produce alongside Max Handelman of Banks's Brownstone Productions. (Deadline.com)


PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (ABC, New!) - "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry is back in business with the Alphabet for a new drama "set in the sexy and cutthroat world of the modern-day music business." Playwrights Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner will pen the script, which is based on Gaston Leroux's gothic novel, also the basis of Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous musical. Cherry-Wind Productions' Sabrina Wind will also executive produce alongside Cherry for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)


PLUS ONE (ABC, New!) - Christopher Noxon's debut novel - about "female breadwinners, male householders and the dynamics of a nontraditional Bay Area family" - is being developed as a comedy at the Alphabet. Noxon will write the half-hour adaptation for ABC Studios with Mark Gordon and Andrea Shay also executive producing via their The Mark Gordon Company. (Deadline.com)


QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (USA/FTVS; W: M.A. Fortin & Joshua John Miller; D: TBA) - Alice Braga (Elysium) has snagged the lead role on the drama pilot, based on Arturo Perez-Reverte's best-selling novel about Teresa Mendoza, a woman who, when her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico, is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in America, where she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run. David Friendly and Pancho Mansfield are also executive producing. (THR.com)


RIVERDALE (FOX, New!) - Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ("Glee") is looking to bring the Archie comics locale to the small screen in a new live-action drama billed as "a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring the surreality of small-town life - the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade." Warner Bros Television-based Berlanti Productions is behind the hour, which is set in the present day and has a penalty attached. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter as well as Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater will likewise executive produce. (Deadline.com)


SELF PROMOTION (MTV; W: Steve Yockey; D: Zach Braff) - Lindsey Gort ("The Carrie Diaries") is the latest addition to the comedy pilot, about an overworked assistant named Katie Preston (Alexandra Krosney) who discovers that her dragon lady boss is missing (or worse). She'll play Tess, "the assistant to the Managing Editor of the website who is the nemesis to Katie. To make matters worse, she has a thing for Josh (Ben Bledsoe)." Brian Jordan Alvarez, Derek Goh and Nichole Bloom also star. (Deadline.com)


TRUE BLUE (A.K.A. UNTITLED MILLARD & PRICE PROJECT) (ABC/ABC Studios; W: Kathryn Price & Nichole Millard; D: TBA) - Kathryn Price and Nichole Millard are redeveloping their drama pilot, about "two female homicide detectives in San Francisco who find themselves reluctantly partnered after a falling out years earlier." Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper remain attached as executive producers for The Mark Gordon Company. (Deadline.com)


UNTITLED BARON DAVIS PROJECT (FOX, New!) - The life of former NBA all-star Baron Davis is being developed as a potential single-camera comedy at the network. The untitled effort will revolve around "a kid from South Central who receives a scholarship to attend a prestigious suburban school and has to find a balance between these two very different worlds." 20th Century Fox Television-based The Walcott Co. is behind the half-hour with the company's Jake Johnson and Max Winkler executive producing alongside Kate Gordon and writer Courtney Lilly. UNTITLED JOSH SIEGAL/DYLAN MORGAN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Josh Siegal and Dylan Morgan ("30 Rock") are developing a single-camera comedy at the Peacock about "a circle of friends who grow closer when one of them "comes out" to the group - as a witch." Universal Television is behind the half-hour with Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan of the studio-based TBD Productions also executive producing. (THR.com)
