EMMA CAVENDISH (ABC, New!) - Christopher Silber ("NCIS") has sold a new drama to the Alphabet about "a young attorney who discovers a long-buried secret about her family. FREQUENCY (NBC, New!) - Jeremy Carver ("Supernatural") is spearheading a small screen take on the Jim Caviezel/Dennis Quaid-led 2000 feature, in which "an NYPD detective connects with his son, 30 years in the future. The two must work together to change the history of tragic events to come while also getting the chance to heal their complicated relationship." Warner Bros. Television is behind the project, which has a penalty attached. Screenwriter Toby Emmerich is on board to executive produce the hour alongside John Rickard and Lin Pictures' Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz. (THR.com)

SHANNARA (MTV; W: Al Gough & Miles Millar; D: Jonathan Liebesman) - Poppy Drayton ("When Calls the Heart") is the first to be cast in the upcoming drama, based on Terry Brooks's best-selling fantasy novels about the Shannara family, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic and whose adventures continuously reshape the future of the world. She's set as Elven Princess Amberle, who's "the first female to be accepted as one of the Chosen, the special group of Elves responsible for the protection and care of the ancient Ellcrys tree. But unlike the rest of the Chosen, Amberle's dangerous and heroic journey is just beginning." (Deadline.com)
