By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

CURSE OF THE FUENTES WOMEN, THE (NBC/WBT; W: Silvio Horta; D: TBA) - Rachel Ticotin and Katie Sarife have both been cast in the drama pilot, about when a magical and mysterious young man (Adan Canto) inexplicably emerges from the ocean, he breathes new passion into the lives of the Fuentes women - the beautiful but lonely Lola, her ailing mother Esperanza and her troubled daughter Soledad. They'll play the aforementioned "ailing mother Esperanza, who is struggling with Alzheimer's and has a secret magical past" and "her troubled teen daughter Soledad whose psychic abilities are awakened by an unexpected pregnancy," respectively. (Deadline.com)

SUPER CLYDE (CBS/CBSP; W: Greg Garcia; D: TBA) - Charlie McDermott ("The Middle") has booked the title role in the revived comedy pilot, about a meek, unassuming fast food worker who decides to become a "superhero" for the downtrodden after inheriting his uncle's fortune. He'll succeed Rupert Grint from the original incarnation in 2013. McDermott's involvement is in first position as the actor has not extened his contract on "The Middle" beyond the current season, nor have the vast majority of his co-stars. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Michael Fresco, Scott Ellis and Todd Holland have been tapped to helm the ABC comedy pilots "Untitled Johnny Knoxville Project," "Dr. Ken" and "Family of the Year," respectively (Deadline.com); and Allen Coulter has signed on as the in-house director for HBO's upcoming 1970s music drama from executive producers Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter (Deadline.com).
