PARADISE PICTURES (USA/UCP; W: Rick Muirragui; D: TBA) - Rick Muirragui's period drama - about "about ambitious people striving to get to the top in 1940s Hollywood, when the dream factory was at its peak; little do they know the challenges they're about to face: the end of studio monopolies, the blacklist and the new disruptive technology of television" - has been ordered to pilot by the cable channel. Universal Cable Productions is behind the hour, with "Suits" creator Aaron Korsh also attached as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BLASUCCI, KONNER, LUND & TRIMBUR PROJECT (Comedy Central, New!) - Amanda Lund, Maria Blasucci and Angela Trimbur are set to star in a new comedy series for the cable channel about "a group of misfit women in LA who find new leases on life through their less-than-stellar all-girls basketball team." Jeremy Konner is helming the half-hour which was co-written by the quartet. Electric Dynamite's Jack Black and Priyanka Mattoo also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - NBC has reportedly given the producers of its drama pilots "Blindspot," "Heartbreaker" (formerly "Heart Matters") and "The Player" (formerly "Endgame") permission to begin staffing (Deadline.com); Lea DeLaria's Carrie "Big Boo" Black has been promoted to series regular on season four of "Orange is The New Black" (Deadline.com); Winter Ave Zoli, Kelly Overton, Aisling Franciosi and Steve Kazee have all joined the cast of "Legends" as Gabriella Laska, Nina Brenner, Kate Crawford and Curtis Ballard, respectively (Deadline.com);
Wendell Pierce has been tapped to play Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas in HBO's original movie "Confirmation" (THR.com); Joe Adler will visit the final two episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" this season in a top secret role (THR.com); and former mainstays Glen Morgan and James Wong have closed deals to return for FOX's revival of "The X-Files" (TVLine.com).
