THE VERDICT IS IN!

WE tv GREENLIGHTS TWO UNSCRIPTED SERIES SET IN THE WORLD OF LEGAL DRAMA, FURTHER EXPANDING THE NETWORK'S ROBUST SLATE AND THE POPULAR REALITY GENRE

NEW YORK, NY -- June 2, 2015 -- WE tv has greenlit two unscripted series steeped in the drama-filled world of law. The docu-dramas Ladies of Law (working title) and Sisters in Law will join WE tv's line-up in 2016, further expanding the network's original series slate and the reality genre overall. Production on both one-hour series will begin this summer.

"Legal dramas have long been a popular TV genre but have not been represented in the unscripted space -- until now," said Marc Juris, WE tv's president. "Working in concert with our production partners we actively sought to develop shows around topics that haven't been explored, yet lend themselves naturally to great, buzzy stories and powerful characters. The very nature of 'the law' coupled with the intense personalities of lawyers gives us a wide range of storylines and characters to showcase. Behind each of these attorneys is a rich story waiting to be told."

Ladies of Law (wt) follows a group of four interconnected, powerful and glamorous African American female lawyers specializing in entertainment law in New York City, and specifically the challenged music industry dominated by men. This group is behind some of the biggest names in music; their deals transform up-and-coming artists into mega stars -- and millionaires. But, the price of success grows as they must set aside their competition with one another and sacrifice their personal lives to work together to bring in - and keep - major clients. Ladies of Law (wt) is produced by Eastern and Monami Entertainment. The executive producers for Eastern are Stefan Springman, Mala Chapple and Toby Barraud. The executive producer for Monami Entertainment is Mona Scott-Young; Rhonda Cowan is co-executive producer for Life's A Beach Media.

Being a female lawyer in Texas is tough; being an African American female lawyer in Texas is tougher. In the city of Houston, a group of five women at the top of their field have coined themselves the "Sisters In Law." The series follows these powerful women as they bond over their shared vocation and struggles for success, while being pulled apart by the type of law they practice. On one side of the scale are the civil lawyers who fight for millions for their clients and, in the process, themselves. On the other side are the criminal lawyers who spend their days -- and nights -- fighting for justice. Sisters in Law is produced by Collins Avenue Entertainment and executive produced by Jeff Collins, Michael Hammond, Sandi Johnson, Bryan Stinson and Laura Halperin, with producing partner Kim Coles.
