BROOKLYN ANIMAL CONTROL (USA/UCP; W: J.T. Petty; D: Brian Kirk) - Tonye Patano is the latest to board the Stephen Graham-led drama pilot, based on the comic book of the same name which follows the inner workings of a secret subdivision of the NYPD that functions as social services for some of the city's most unique citizens - werewolves. She'll play Jill Wilson, "a member of the Brooklyn Animal Control team who looks like someone you want to lean on and tell your troubles to." (Deadline.com)


CROOKED (FOX, New!) - Robert Specland has sold a new drama to the network about "a longtime corrupt detective who is busted, his cases overturned and a thousand of the city's worst criminals are released back onto the streets, one case at a time. A mysterious outsider is brought in to lead a new task force with one goal: to clean up the streets." The project, said to be inspired by true events, comes from 20th Century Fox Television. Peter Horton is also attached as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)


SOAR (FOX, New!) - Todd Slavin and Darren Swimmer ("Defiance") have scored a put pilot commitment from the network for a new drama about "a former NBA prodigy turned felon who become the basketball coach at an upscale high school after his release from prison." Lionsgate Television is behind the hour, with Joel Silver and Rodney Ferrell of Silver Pictures also executive producing. Said companies are also behind "Bathory," which likewise has a put pilot commitment at CBS. (Variety.com)


UNTITLED GERARD & ZINMAN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Matt Zinman and Craig Gerard have set up a potential comedy at the Peacock about "a girl who, after becoming convinced she's going to die, leans on her best friends to help her live the rest of her life with no regrets." Le Train Train's Rashida Jones and Will McCormack also serve as executive producers for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)


UNTITLED JENNY BICKS PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Jenny Bicks has set up a potential single-camera comedy at the Eye which "centers on a successful young couple who find themselves starting an unconventional family when a threesome leads to a pregnancy." Said effort is set up at the CBS Television Studios-based Halyard Park with the company's Doug Ellin also executive producing and Joey Boukadakis as a co-executive producer. Separately, Bicks is re-writing the Whitney Cummings-led "Drama" (formerly known as "Are Men Necessary?") at HBO and supervising TV Land's "First Wives Club." (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - James McDaniel has been cast as Ezra Mills, the absent father of Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood), on "Sleepy Hollow" (Deadline.com); Willie Garson, Stockard Channing and Jerry O'Connell are all bound for upcoming episodes of "The Mysteries of Laura" (TVLine.com); and Gaius Charles will drop by "Blindspot" as "an Army sergeant who has something mysterious in common with Jane" (TVLine.com).
