BRIGGS LAND (AMC, New!) - Brian Wood is looking to bring his Dark Horse Comics series - about "the conflict inside a secessionist movement when resident matriarch Grace Briggs attempts to take control of the movement from her husband, sparking a civil war that the federal government plans to take advantage of" - as a TV series at the cable channel. Wood himself will pen the hour and executive produce alongside John Hodges and Ravi Nandan at A24. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Netflix will roll out the third season of "Peaky Blinders" on Tuesday, May 31 (@netflix); Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi's widow Judy Belushi are developing "The Blues Brothers," a potential primetime animated comedy series, with Bento Box Entertainment (Deadline.com); "Chopped" creators Cleve Keller and Dave Noll have inked a first-look deal with Entertainment One for their Keller/Noll banner (Deadline.com); Tom Harper has signed on to direct the opening installment of AMC's "The Son," taking over for Michelle McLaren who "dropped out for scheduling reasons" (Deadline.com); and TBS has passed on its untitled comedy pilot from Matt Fogel and Todd Strauss-Schulson however producer Legendary Television will shop the project elsewhere (Deadline.com).
