GODLESS (Netflix) - Jeff Daniels, Merritt Wever, Jeremy Bobb and Thomas Brodie-Sangster have all formally joined the cast of the limited period drama series. Daniels will play Frank Griffin, "the menacing leader of notorious gang. He's searching for Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell), once like a son to him, is now his mortal enemy"; with Wever as Mary Agnes, "the brash widow of the late mayor of Le Belle, NM, a town where all of the men have died in a mining accident"; Bobb as A.T. Grigg, "the editor of the Santa Fe Dailey Review, who has been obsessed for years with writing about the Griffin Gang"; and Brodie-Sangster as Whitey Winn, "the town deputy. Devoted to both books and the sheriff, Whitey is afraid of no one, but is still a boy more than a man and has a lot to learn." (Deadline.com)
TOP OF THE LAKE (SundanceTV) - Nicole Kidman has signed onto the show's second season, subtitled "China Girl," in which Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss) investigates "the case of an unidentified body which washes up on Sydney's Bondi Beach." No details about her role were given. Gwendoline Christie, Liv Hewson, David Dencik, Alice Englert and Ewen Leslie also star. (Deadline.com)
