GENA MCCARTHY ELEVATED TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT HEAD OF PROGRAMMING AND DEVELOPMENT FYI(TM) NETWORK, A+E NETWORKS(R)

NEW YORK, NY - July 13, 2016 - Creative exec Gena McCarthy has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Programming and Development for FYI, it was announced today by Paul Greenberg, General Manager of FYI and 45th and Dean, A+E Networks(R) to whom McCarthy reports.

Going forward, McCarthy will continue to oversee all programming and development for FYI to create best-in-class, multi-platform programming. She will also work closely with other A+E Networks' brands to identify content that might work well across the portfolio.

Previously, McCarthy was Senior Vice President, Programming & Development, FYI, a role she has held since 2013. Under McCarthy, FYI, which launched in July 2014, has become one of the hottest new media brands, with trend-setting new genres and a stable of successful formats with global appeal, including "Married at First Sight," "Tiny House Nation," "Seven Year Switch," "Arranged" and more.

"During Gena's impressive tenure at FYI, she has worked tirelessly and overseen the development and success of multiple hit shows and formats that have made FYI one of the most upscale cable networks in the industry and one of the most successful new cable networks in years," said Greenberg. "Additionally, the content has not only been a huge hit with consumers, but it is also extremely popular with the advertising community; Gena has helped solidify many important branded integrations with companies such as Home Depot, Wayfair, Zillow and others. This is an extremely well-deserved next step for Gena and I am thrilled she is taking on this elevated role."

McCarthy has a diverse track record in development, production and programming across both factual and general entertainment brands. Before FYI, she was Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming for Lifetime(R), where she oversaw all Development and Production of unscripted content including the wildly popular "Dance Moms" franchise, development of "Bring It," development and production of "Project Runway All-Stars," "The Week the Women Went," "One Born Every Minute," "Coming Home" and editorial and production oversight of multiple seasons of the Emmy-nominated hit, "Project Runway."

Prior to joining A+E Networks, McCarthy's work as Senior Vice President, Development and Production and Executive Producer at Discovery Channel includes breakthrough male factual franchises including "Dual Survival," "Dirty Jobs," "Mythbusters," "Shark Week," "Man Woman Wild," "Pitch Men" and "Deadliest Catch."

Prior to Discovery, as Vice President, Development and Production at WE-tv, she developed hit franchises "My Fair Wedding," "High School Confidential" and produced and oversaw the long-running hit "Bridezillas," among others. Earlier at TLC, McCarthy's work spanned male factual formats such as "Junkyard Wars," "Mostly True Stories: Urban Legends Revealed" and dueling robot mash-up "Robotica," to lifestyle titles including "In a Fix" and "For Better or For Worse."

McCarthy began her career in children's programming and production at WQED Pittsburgh, as coordinating producer on "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego," and as publicist and copywriter for the popular series "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego."

McCarthy graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in English Writing and History.
