OVATION TV UNVEILS U.S. PREMIERES OF TWO PICASSO DOCUMENTARIES FROM OLIVIER WIDMAIER PICASSO

Picasso, The Legacy and Picasso: A Museum Reborn to Debut in December

Santa Monica, CA - November 1, 2016 Ovation TV, America's only arts network, will air the U.S. premieres of two one-hour documentaries focusing on the renowned artist Pablo Picasso. Picasso: A Museum Reborn will debut on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 7:00pm ET and Picasso, The Legacy will premiere on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 7:00pm ET.

Picasso, The Legacy, the first HD film made about Picasso, offers an inside glimpse into the world of the artist through exclusive interviews with family and friends and unprecedented access to family archives. Co-written by Olivier Widmaier Picasso, grandson of the artist, and Director Hugues Nancy, the fascinating documentary film gives insight into Picasso's cultural phenomenon and tells the story of his various muses and descendants as well as the several thousands of artworks discovered after the painter's death. The film also explores one of the modern art world's most complex estate inventory and legal settlements.

"With this documentary, we are sharing a rare and personal look into the fascinating aspects of my grandfather's life which inspired his work," said Olivier Widmaier Picasso. "This is the first film that shows his complete dedication and his ability to be in a constant state of creative process."

"As an artist and cultural icon, the enigma of Pablo Picasso still exists to this day," said Scott Woodward, EVP of Programming and Production, Ovation TV. "By granting exclusive access to his grandfather's estate, Olivier Widmaier Picasso invites viewers into the behind-the-scenes world of this beloved artist."

Picasso: A Museum Reborn, directed by Augustin Viatte, recounts the re-opening of the Picasso Museum in Paris, the largest public collection of the artist's work in the world, after four years of renovation and extension. It is intended as a companion film to The Legacy.

Both documentaries were co-produced by Gedeon Programmes, ARTE and Olivier Widmaier Picasso's production company, Welcome. Picasso, The Legacy was also co-produced with Réunion des Musées Nationaux-Grand Palais and received the Export Award 2015.
