By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Nick Wechsler ("Revenge") has scored a multi-episode arc on the series as Kenny Rixton, "a former protégé of Voight's (Jason Beghe) from their gang unit days." (THR.com)
HAPPY! (Syfy) - Christopher Meloni ("Underground") has been tapped to star in the pilot, based on Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson's comic book series. He'll play Nick Sax, a corrupt, intoxicated, ex-cop turned hit-man adrift in a twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit goes wrong, Nick finds a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail and a monstrous killer in a Santa suit on the loose. But his world is about to be changed forever by Happy, a tiny (imaginary) blue winged horse with a relentlessly positive attitude. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MARC LAWRENCE PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Marc Lawrence (Music and Lyrics) has sold a single-camera comedy to the Eye about "an extremely non-confrontational single mom who's promoted to Dean of Students at the high school where she teaches and must contend with overly involved parents, demanding administrators and a challenging student body - which includes her two teenagers." Robert and Michelle King will also executive produce with Liz Glotzer via their CBS Television Studios-based King Size Productions. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MORENA BACCARIN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Morena Baccarin ("Gotham") is set to star in a potential drama for the Peacock about "a former police officer-turned-high-powered attorney who navigates the ever-changing landscape of New York City politics, law enforcement and the justice system, all while juggling a complicated personal life. Morena works for a law firm that defends New York police officers in a wide range of cases." Ken Sanzel will pen the script for ITV Studios America with Baccarin, Sanzel, Yap Films' Elliot Halpern and Flame Ventures' Tony Krantz executive producing. Co-executive producing are Drew Comins, Sarah Jackson and Elizabeth Trojian. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SCOTT WEINGER PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Scott Weinger is developing a new single-camera comedy at the network about "a married couple whose lives are turned upside down when the wife's immigrant father comes to live with them. The father-in-law's larger-than-life personality and his inclination to take big risks clashes with his strait-laced son-in-law." The project comes from Warner Bros. Television with 3 Arts Entertainment's Jonathan Berry also serving as an executive producer. (THR.com)
Y: THE LAST MAN (FX) - Michael Green ("American Gods") has been tapped to showrun the cable channel's adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra's comic book series. He'll co-write the pilot script alongside Vaughan for FX Productions. Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson also serve as executive producers. (THR.com)
