BEAST, THE (FOX) - Stephen Hopkins is set to helm the medical drama pilot, each week of which features three challenging medical cases. In the end, two will live, one will die. Their doctor - with a clinical fear of death - never stops fighting the odds. He'll work from a script by Dawn DeNoon and Neal Baer. (Deadline.com)
CONTROVERSY (FOX) - Austin Stowell (Whiplash) is the first to board the drama pilot, in which the Junior Counsel of a prestigious Illinois university must deal with an out-of-control scandal when a young co-ed accuses several star football players of sexual assault. He'll play said lawyer, Matt Kincaid. (Deadline.com)
DR. KEN (ABC) - "Community" creator Dan Harmon will drop by as himself on the show's second season finale. (Deadline.com)
INSATIABLE (The CW) - Debby Ryan has scored a lead role on the drama pilot, about a disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach who takes on a vengeful, bullied teenager as his client, and has no idea what he's about to unleash upon the world. She'll play the latter, Patty: "Patty used to be a fat girl who found solace through eating, but after she has her jaw broken, she loses about 70 pounds and turns out to be gorgeous. The daughter of a beautiful alcoholic who's just gotten her 60 day AA chip, Patty finds her life taking an unexpected turn when her lawyer, Bob, who's also a beauty pageant coach, offers to help her become a professional beauty queen." (Deadline.com)
KILLER INSTINCT (CBS) - Daniel Ings and Naveen Andrews are the latest additions to the Alan Cumming-led drama pilot. The former will play Tracy, "Dylan's "all-American" husband of one year"; with Andrews as Julian, "Dylan's old friend from the CIA who rivals Dylan in brilliance and wit." (Deadline.com)
LA --> VEGAS (FOX) - Dylan McDermott has booked a role on the comedy pilot, about a group of underdogs trying to find their place in the world, set on the Friday night flight from LAX to Vegas and the returning flight on Sunday, who all share the same goal: to come back a winner in the casino of life. He'll play the pilot on Flight 1710, Captain Dave, "all-American, cocky but also a baby, a likable narcissist who feels connecting with his passengers is just as important as flying the plane." (Deadline.com)
LINDA FROM HR (FOX) - Lauren Graham has booked the title role in the comedy pilot, in which all it takes is one bad decision to throw Linda from HR's monotonous, unfulfilled life into an exciting but dangerous tailspin of balancing work life, home life and a secret that could unravel everything. Her casting lifts said contingency off the pilot's production, which has also added Marc Buckland as director. Additionally, Graham will recur on the upcoming season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in an unspecified role. (Deadline.com)
MAYANS MC (FX) - J.D. Pardo has landed the lead role on the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off: Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes, "a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border. EZ is the gifted son of a proud Latino family, whose American dream was snuffed out by cartel violence. Now, his need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended and can never escape." (Deadline.com)
REDLINERS (NBC) - Jason Ensler has been tapped to direct the drama pilot, about a pair of former spies living in suburbia who are reactivated when a failed hit on one of them leaves the assassin dead. The project is based on "Small Kingdoms" by Charlaine Harris. (Deadline.com)
REVERIE (NBC) - Dennis Haysbert ("Incorporated") has signed onto the drama pilot as Charlie Ventana, "a former police chief who was Mara's (Sarah Shahi) boss when she used to work in law enforcement. Now he works for the inventor of Reverie and recruits Mara to help stop the dangerous consequences of this new virtual reality program." (Deadline.com)
SINGULARITY (FX) - Damon Wayans, Jr. has booked a lead role on the comedy pilot, which is set in a future when artificial intelligence greatly surpasses human intelligence, resulting in profound changes to our society. He'll play Doug, "a guy who loves to be in the moment and is often dressed in Yeezy streetwear. Contrary to some, Doug is happily reliant on AI and seeks out all the pleasures technology has to offer." (Deadline.com)
SOMEWHERE BETWEEN (ABC) - J.R. Bourne has snagged a role on the upcoming drama as Tom Price, "Laura's (Paula Patton) powerful yet sensitive husband who is also the state's district attorney." (Deadline.com)
SPACED OUT (NBC) - Brett Goldstein (Uncle) is the first to be cast in the comedy pilot, about a working class genius and his struggles to fit in with an established team all made more difficult when their job is building a rocket to Mars. He'll play Leon Ness, "the brilliant, eccentric and unpredictable founder of Space One - a man who dreams big and never gives up." (Deadline.com)
THIN ICE (FOX) - Ramona Young is the latest addition to the comedy pilot as Isis, "the weird and overbearing member of the research team in Antarctica." (Deadline.com)
UNIT ZERO (ABC) - Rob Huebel has been cast in the drama pilot, about a brilliant, but unassuming CIA engineer and single mom, Jackie Fink (Collette), as she leads a team of CIA underlings who are thrust into the field as first time spies. He'll play Phineas Bog, "CIA computer genius with an off-beat and unconventional manner. He manages to keep a lid on his feelings (huge crush) on Jackie, long enough to head up the CIA's Cyber Security (even though everyone views him as just the IT guy). Sweet and soft-hearted, Phineas is sharp as a tack and quite possibly the smartest guy in the room." (Deadline.com)
UNSOLVED (USA) - Josh Duhamel, Jimmi Simpson and Bokeem Woodbine are the first to board the drama pilot, a scripted true crime serial that chronicles the two major police investigations into the murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. Duhamel will play LAPD Detective Greg Kading (whose book serves as basis for the project) with Simpson as fellow Detective Russell Poole and Woodbine as Officer Daryn Dupree. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CITY MAYOR PROJECT (ABC) - Lea Michele ("Scream Queens") has been tapped for a role on the comedy pilot, about Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall), a struggling hip-hop artist who runs for mayor to promote his mixtape - and wins. She'll presumably play Valentina "Val" Flores, "Courtney's Chief of Staff and reliable foil." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED PAUL WILLIAM DAVIES PROJECT (ABC) - Wesam Keesh has scored a role on the drama pilot as Jay Dawson, "a recent law school grad who's about to begin his career as a public defender in the prestigious district court." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SEAL TEAM 6 PROJECT (CBS) - Neil Brown, Jr. (Straight Outta Compton) is the first to book a role on the drama pilot as Ray, "the longest-tenured member of Jason's (not yet cast) assault team, and his most trusted friend and colleague." (Deadline.com)
