SHOOTER (USA) - Patrick Sabongui, Troy Garity and Jaina Lee Ortiz are among the latest to board the show's second season. Sabongui will play Yusuf Ali, "a core member of Swagger's (Ryan Phillippe) original Marine team"; with Garity as Jeffrey Denning, "a seasoned investigative journalist who cares deeply about justice being served"; and Ortiz as Angela Tio, "a Marine and part of Bob Lee's former unit. Tio holds her own with the guys and is one of the few people who knows Bob Lee well enough to keep him grounded." (Deadline.com)
WAG THE DOG (HBO, New!) - Rajiv Joseph is spearheading a small screen take on the 1997 feature, which "follows a Washington, D.C. spin doctor (Robert De Niro) who, just days before a presidential election, distracts the electorate from a sex scandal by hiring a Hollywood film producer (Dustin Hoffman) to construct a fake war with Albania." Barry Levinson is on board to helm the Warner Bros. Television-based half-hour take as well as executive produce alongside Levinson/Fontana Co.'s Tom Fontana; Jason Sosnoff; and Tribeca Productions' De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh. David Brock will serve as a consultant. (Deadline.com)
