ABC NEWS' LINCOLN SQUARE PRODUCTIONS JOINS FORCES WITH VIOLA DAVIS AND JULIUS TENNON'S JUVEE PRODUCTIONS TO DEVELOP "THE 4%" (WT)

Six-Part True Crime Documentary Series Explores the Cases of Two Death Row Convicts Who Might Be Innocent

ABC News' Lincoln Square Productions and Viola Davis and Julius Tennon's JuVee Productions along with XCON Productions is in development on a six-part true crime documentary series for ABC. "The 4%" (wt) will follow two inmates on death row and re-examine the evidence in their cases using new forensic technologies. Studies show that perhaps as many as 4% of the people on death row are innocent. The crime, investigation, trial, verdict and appeals will all be examined, unpacking the facts of the case and the emotions on both sides - leading to the question, might they be innocent of the crimes for which they are condemned?

"We feel that the 4% represents those who are looking for justice, but face an uphill battle," said Julius Tennon and Viola Davis, JuVee Productions co-founders. "They are not daunted in their quest for freedom and our team of investigators are battle tested and ready to unearth the truth that could set them free."

"The National Academy of Sciences estimates that at least 4% of people on death row are innocent, and there's no telling how many innocent people have already been put to death," said Andrew Wang, Head of TV for JuVee Productions. "We're so proud to join with ABC and Lincoln Square in highlighting the important, life-saving work being undertaken to help the innocent clear their names and ensure that they do not face the ultimate punishment for a crime they did not commit."

"From the first meeting with Viola and Julius, we learned they are committed to using their extraordinarily powerful megaphone to help tell the stories of those that need it most," said Morgan Hertzan, senior vice president, Lincoln Square Productions. "This new project embodies those values that we share with them perfectly and we're proud to be teaming up with them for a riveting series."
