CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Co-stars Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney have both closed one-year extensions to return for the just-ordered seventh season of the veteran drama. The other original cast members - Eamonn Walker, Monica Raymund and David Eigenberg - are currently unsigned. (Deadline.com)
LOOKING FOR ALASKA (Hulu, New!) - Josh Schwartz's long-in-the-works feature, an adaptation of John Green's best-selling novel, has now been set up at the streaming service as an eight-episode limited series. Paramount Television is behind the project with Schwartz and his Fake Empire partner Stephanie Savage executive producing alongside Jessica Tuchinsky, Mark Waters and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Productions. Lis Rowinski will co-executive produce. "Alaska" centers on teenager Miles "Pudge" Halter, "as he enrolls in a boarding school to try to gain a deeper perspective on life. He meets one student in particular, Alaska Young, who he falls in love with as she guides him through his own "labyrinth of suffering." After her unexpected death, he is forced to work through his internal "labyrinth of suffering" himself as he and his close friends attempt to uncover the truth behind Alaska's death." (Deadline.com)
STRANGER THINGS (Netflix) - Francesca Reale will recur on the upcoming third season as Heather, "a popular lifeguard at the Hawkins Community Pool who becomes the centerpiece of a dark mystery." (Deadline.com)
TELL ME A STORY (CBSAA) - Billy Magnussen has been tapped to star in Kevin Williamson's psychological thriller, which takes the world's most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller. He'll play Nick, "a young high school teacher who's handsome, seductive, and quite possibly a wolf in sheep's clothing. After a wild night with a girl he met at a nightclub results in a hookup but no phone numbers swapped, he thinks his chances with her have gone out the window. But when he runs into her again, he's sure to take advantage of his second chance, proving he's sensitive, understanding... and, quite possibly, too good to be true." Additionally, Liz Friedlander will direct and executive produce the first two episodes. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CRISTIANO RONALDO PROJECT (Facebook Watch, New!) - Liz Garcia and Josh Harto have sold a potential series to the company which "follows a high school girls soccer team in upstate New York as the team's melting pot line-up and winning streak invites the community to overcome deep divisions along racial, ethnic and class lines by rallying around the universal language of the beautiful game." International soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and wiip's Paul Lee are likewise behind the project, which has a series commitment with a penalty attached, as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
YELLOWJACKETS (Showtime, New!) - Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson are spearheading a potential drama at the pay channel set in 1975 about a girls' high school soccer team that becomes "the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness, chronicling their descent from a friendly, cooperative team to warring, cannibalistic clans." Creative Engine Entertainment's Drew Comins is also set to executive produce for Entertainment One. (Deadline.com)
