AVENUE 5 (HBO) - Suzy Nakamura has been cast in the Hugh Laurie-led sci-fi comedy pilot as Iris Kimura, "right-hand to the billionaire owner of the company behind the Avenue 5." (Deadline.com)
CHARMED (The CW) - Gina Rodriguez has signed on to helm the 11th episode of the upcoming reboot series. The news marks the first project Rodriguez will direct that she is not also starring in. (Variety.com)
GOOD PLACE, THE (NBC) - Kirby Howell-Baptiste is set to recur on the show's third season as Simone, who works with Chidi (William Jackson Harper) "at the university, as a neuroscientist, and Chidi seeks her help to figure out if there's something wrong with his brain." (EW.com)
GREAT, THE (Hulu, New!) - Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult are attached to star in a limited series at the streaming service which "details the rise to power of Catherine the Great (Fanning) and her explosive relationship with husband Peter (Hoult), the emperor of Russia." Tony McNamara is penning the hour, which is finalizing deals for a pilot order, with Fanning and Marian Macgowan also serving as executive producers for MRC, Echo Lake Entertainment and Thruline Entertainment. HAWAII FIVE-0 (CBS) - Academy Award winner Louis Gossett, Jr. will drop by a season nine episode as the father of Chi McBride's Lou Grover, written by McBride himself. (TVLine.com)
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (CBS) - Necar Zadegan has joined the cast of the new season as Special Agent Hannah Khoury, "who takes a leadership spot on the team after last season's assassination attempt on Pride (Scott Bakula)." (EW.com)
SHAMELESS (Showtime) - Katey Sagal and Courteney Cox will both visit the upcoming season as Ingrid Jones, "a crazed psych patient that Frank (William H. Macy) encounters in the E.R."; and Jen Wagner, "a famous actress who's had a problem in the past with booze," respectively. (Variety.com)
SUPERGIRL (The CW) - Anthony Konechny has booked a recurring role on the new season as Agent Jensen, "a DEO agent recruited by Alex (Chyler Leigh) who struggles to find his footing at the DEO." (Deadline.com)
