ACT, THE (Hulu) - Calum Worthy has scored a role on the upcoming anthology series as Nick: "When Gypsy (Joey King) meets him on a Christian dating website, he seems like the perfect match: A good Catholic boy who wants a big family. But what starts as a sweet love affair quickly turns into something darker." (Deadline.com)
ALL AMERICAN (The CW) - Creator April Blair has stepped down as showrunner of the freshman drama for "personal reasons," to be succeeded by co-executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll. (Deadline.com)
BEST BITE EVER (ABC, New!) - Katy Mixon is set to host "a comedic cooking competition pilot" for the Alphabet, which "taps into every parent's challenge to get their kids to eat... let alone anything new and healthy. It features home cooks who believe they have what it takes to win over tiny tasters with big opinions on food." Susan House is executive producing for ABC Studios' new Alternative Division. (Deadline.com)
BROCKMIRE (IFC) - Tawny Newsome will recur on the show's third season as Gabby Taylor, "described as a straightforward and hardworking NCAA Champion softball player and Brockmire's newest partner in the announcing booth. A genuinely good person trying to make her way in an unwelcoming league, Gabby has no interest in letting Brockmire muck up her career, but she does recognize when he finally tries to do the right thing and is willing to help him along." (Variety.com)
CONSTANCE (TNT) - Sharon Gless has signed onto the Elisabeth Shue-led drama pilot as Constance's mother, Raylynn, "a tough-as-nails, bitingly witty former beauty queen who does her best to stave off the indignities of age but whose thick makeup and false eyelashes are starting to fail her. Boozy and irreverent, Raylynn is a loving and proud matriarch, despite her deeply complicated relationship with Constance." (Deadline.com)
GODFATHER OF HARLEM (Epix) - Giancarlo Esposito has signed onto the Forest Whitaker-led period drama as Adam Clayton Powell: "Baptist Minister, Harlem Congressman, and man of many appetites, Adam Clayton Powell is a legendary Harlem figure who more than any other New Yorker advanced the cause of civil rights at home and in Washington. With a taste for European cruises at taxpayer expense, whiskey and milk, and beautiful women, Powell is an outrageous showman who delights in tweaking the white power structure. His running feud with Bumpy Johnson becomes the stuff of lore and legend." (Deadline.com)
INK & PAINT (Disney OTT, New!) - The upcoming streaming service has commissioned an eight-episode documentary series which takes a look at "a number of women who made many of the Disney animated classics possible with little or no recognition for their work." Sertner Productions and ABC Studios' new Alternative Division are behind the project, which is based on Mindy Johnson's book of the same name. (Deadline.com)
LETHAL WEAPON (FOX) - Newcomer Paola Lázaro is bound for the new season as Louie "The Gute" Gutierrez, "who joins Robbery/Homicide after a year of undercover work to bring down a Mexican cartel. Her partnership with Bailey gets off to a rough start: While Sonya is very no-nonsense, The Gute prefers to act first, think later." (TVLine.com)
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (CBS) - CBS Television Studios has fired Brad Kern following "a third investigation into allegations of harassment, unprofessional conduct and vindictive behavior." The former showrunner had been serving as a consulting producer as part of an overall deal with the studio. (THR.com)
ON MY BLOCK (Netflix) - Jessica Marie Garcia's Jasmine has been upped to series regular for season two of the coming-of-age comedy. (Deadline.com)
OUTCAST (Cinemax) - The pay channel has canceled Robert Kirkman's drama series after two seasons. The show's de facto finale on September 28 drew a modest 87,000 viewers (19,000 adults 18-49) in Live+3. (THR.com)
THIS IS US (NBC) - Yetide Badaki will kick off a recurring arc on the series tonight as "a Nigerian immigrant from William's (Ron Cephas Jones) past." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CUMMINGS & DANIELS PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - Whitney Cummings and Lee Daniels are set to team for a new comedy at the streaming service which "revolves around the staff of the ombudsman's office at a college that navigates PC culture and the #metoo climate." They'll co-write the half-hour with Daniels directing and Cummings playing the lead character, who "must reconcile the dissonance between different generations of feminism, and the struggle to reconcile our primal desires, and socially constructed identities with current ethical obligations regarding race, class and gender." Fox 21 TV Studios and Amazon Studios are co-producing. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED JUSTIN NOBLE PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Justin Noble has sold a new comedy to the Peacock about "seven residents who live in a modern, communal living space modeled after college dorm. They come from all walks of life and all have personal reasons for choosing this alternative living situation. While they start out as strangers they soon become each other's newest and closest friends through the forced interactions that happen when you're living in close quarters." Universal Television is behind the half-hour with Keshet Studios' Avi Nir, Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
