AMERICAN CRIME (ABC) - John Ridley has signed a new five-year overall deal with ABC Studios, extending his run at the studio which began in 2014. He'll continue to develop new series projects exclusively for the studio. (Deadline.com)
BLUFF CITY LAW (NBC) - Caitlin McGee is the first to board the drama pilot, about the lawyers of an elite Memphis law firm that specializes in the most controversial landmark civil rights cases. She's set as Sydney, "a hotshot lawyer from Memphis who gives up her corporate in-house job to work with her father on cases that she believes can actually make a difference in the world." CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Nicki Micheaux will recur on the current season as Alicia Price, "the wife of Ray Price (guest star Wendell Pierce). She's a very intelligent and graceful wife and mother. She's at times steely, measured and dutiful to her husband." (Deadline.com)
CIPHER (Syfy) - Gabriel Bateman and Kyla-Drew Simmons are both set to star in the drama pilot, about a 13-year-old gamer who has top secret military technology implanted into his brain. He'll play said boy, Asa, while she's set as 16-year-old Annie, "a mysterious figure Asa meets inside the video game." (Deadline.com)
EVIL (CBS) - Katja Herbers is set to star in the drama pilot, from Robert and Michelle King, about Kristen Benoist, "a skeptical forensic psychologist working with the Catholic Church who assesses cases of unexplained phenomena to determine if there's a scientific or supernatural explanation." HYPNOTIST'S LOVE STORY, THE (ABC) - Liza Lapira has been cast in the drama pilot, about successful hypnotherapist Ellen (yet to be cast), who after a string of failed romances is optimistic about her current boyfriend, until he reveals a disturbing truth: a stalker ex-girlfriend who has been following him for years. She'll play Julie, "Ellen's impish best friend who owns a dress shop." (Deadline.com)
JUICY STORIES (E!) - The cable channel has passed on the drama pilot, about the lives of Juicy Couture founders Pamela Skaist-Levy (Madison Lawlor) and Gela Nash-Taylor (Mia Serafino). Amy B. Harris and Michael Patrick King were behind the project. (Deadline.com)
PSYCH (USA) - The cable channel has formally greenlit "Psych: The Movie 2," a two-hour follow-up to 2017's "Psych: The Movie." Co-stars James Roday, Dulé Hill, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson and Corbin Bernsen are all set to return for the project, which begins production next month in Vancouver. Creator Steve Franks will direct from a script by Roday, Andy Berman and himself. (TVLine.com)
UNTIL THE WEDDING (ABC) - Susannah Grant had been tapped to direct and executive produce the drama pilot, an import of the Israeli series of the same name which tells the story of how one couple's decision to get married can affect everyone in their lives. She'll work from a script by creator Becky Mode. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED NANCY DREW PROJECT (The CW) - Kennedy McMann has scored the title role while actress Leah Lewis, executive producer Melinda Hsu Taylor and director Larry Teng have also signed onto the drama pilot, about an 18-year-old Nancy Drew (McMann) and set during the summer after her high school graduation. Lewis then plays George, "a tough, tattooed girl from the wrong side of the tracks who felt personally wronged by Nancy in high school." Noga Landau, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage co-created the project. (Deadline.com)
