AVENUE 5 (HBO) - Lenora Crichlow has signed onto the ever-expanding cast of the comedy pilot as Billie McEvoy, "the second engineer. Young, outspoken, smart and career-focused but exhausted by responsibility, she loves building and fixing things but is terrified of dying in space." (Deadline.com)
CITY ON A HILL (Showtime) - James Remar and Gloria Reuben will both recur on the upcoming drama as Richy Ryan, "the father of Frankie (Jonathan Tucker) and Jimmy (Mark O'Brien) and a small-time bookie"; and Eloise Hastings, "a former '60s radical and the mother of Siobhan (Lauren E. COUNCIL OF DADS (NBC) - Clive Standen has been tapped for the drama pilot as Anthony Lavelle: "One of Scott's oldest friends, Anthony is a chef and wears his heart on his sleeve." (Deadline.com)
FRANKENSTEIN (CBS) - Uta Briesewitz is set to direct and executive produce the drama pilot while Saidah Arrika Ekulona is the first to be cast. She'll play Capt. Mills, "who is in charge at a crime scene and everywhere she goes. Intelligent, decisive, tough but not without compassion or humor, Mills is Escher's boss at the SFPD. Like his other friends and family, she's stunned when he returns six months after he was presumed dead in an attack at his home." (Deadline.com)
GLAMOROUS (The CW) - Ben J. Pierce has booked the lead role on the drama pilot, about Marco, a gender-nonconforming recent high school graduate who lands the gig of a lifetime interning at a cosmetics company whose products he panned on YouTube. Additionally, Michael Rauch has signed on as an executive producer while Pierson Fodé has been cast as Chad, "an ambitious alpha male who works at the cosmetics company his mother founded, styling himself as her heir apparent." HANNAH (ABC) - Jane Leeves ("The Resident") has been cast in the Hannah Simone-led comedy pilot as her mom, Caroline, who's "New Age-y with a fondness for crystals and meditation, the type who "really wants to know your sign." She is effusive, warm, a bit batty and flamboyant, but well-meaning. She stuns her grown children by announcing she and Sid are divorced and she has fallen in love with someone new... herself." Leeves is currently on a one-year deal for "The Resident," placing her casting in first position. (Deadline.com)
HELL'S KITCHEN (FOX) - The network has quietly renewed its reality staple for its 19th and 20th editions. The show's last three seasons have rolled out in September of each year. (Variety.com)
HUMAN DISCOVERIES (Facebook Watch, New!) - Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, Lamorne Morris, Jillian Bell, Paul Scheer and Lisa Kudrow are set to lead the voice cast of a new animated series from the streaming service about "a group of friends living at the dawn of human civilization. Of course, they're the first to discover necessities like fire and the wheel. But, much more importantly, we'll watch as they stumble onto humanity's best, and worst, innovations. Art. Alcohol. Fashion. Racism. Small talk. And, much to their confusion, monogamy." Chris Bruno and David Howard Lee are behind the project with ShadowMachine and Ninja's Runnin' Wild co-producing. Corey Campodonico, Alex Bulkley, Kirk J. Rudell, Jason Barrett and Mike Simkin will likewise executive produce. (Deadline.com)
KATY KEENE (The CW) - Camille Hyde and Lucien Laviscount have both scored roles in the "Riverdale" spin-off as Alexandra Cabot, "a powerful, savvy and chic New York socialite who is an SVP at her father's company"; and her brother, Alexander, "the CEO of his father's company who dreams of rebooting its dormant record label division, which attracts him to Josie." LIMETOWN (Facebook Watch) - Rekha Sharma will recur on the Jessica Biel-led entry as Sadia Latifi, "the FBI agent assigned to keep an eye on Lia throughout her investigation." (Deadline.com)
NEW YORK UNDERCOVER (ABC) - Luna Lauren Velez will join Malik Yoba in reprising her role of Nina Moreno in the proposed sequel series pilot. "In the follow-up, Williams (Yoba) is overseeing the NYC's Fourth Precinct and the next generation of detectives. As for Moreno, she has retired as a detective but still has ties to the unit." SISTERS (FOX) - Megalyn Echikunwoke will join Brittany Snow in the drama pilot as one of the two titular sisters, Edie, "a successful criminal defense attorney who is partners in both work and life with her husband. Despite her desire for stability, she's dissatisfied with her marriage and can't seem to scratch the itch." (Deadline.com)
STRANGE ANGEL (CBSAA) - Matthew Barnes has scored a recurring role on the show's second season as Agent Wallace: "This young turk is a sharp, high-ranking intelligence agent in charge of the rocketry team's increased security clearances. Schooled in information warfare, he casts a doubtful eye on the extracurricular occult practices of Parsons (Jack Reynor), creating an uneasy professional relationship that will dog Parsons and his team throughout the season." UTOPIA (Amazon) - Ashleigh LaThrop, Desmin Borges, Farrah Mackenzie and Christopher Denham are the latest additions to Gillian Flynn's high-concept drama. LaThrop will play Becky, "bright and big-hearted, she uses her kindness and empathy as a way to get closer to the graphic novel she desperately needs to save her life." Borges then is Wilson Wilson, "a brilliant, paranoid and eccentric conspiracy theorist who is obsessed with Utopia and convinced that it hides more dark secrets about the very future of our world." Mackenzie plays Alice, "an adopted foster child who is bright and curious, with a steely resolve when challenged and thrown into the dangerous world of our Nerds." And Denham is Arby, "a shark-like menace who's emotionally stunted and socially disconnected but whose cold facade starts crumbling as he learns some dangerous truths about his childhood." WOMAN UP (ABC) - Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Tawny Newsome, Kym Whitley, Gabrielle Elyse and Abby Quinn have scored the principal roles on the single-camera comedy pilot, about Liz (Ellis) and Phoebe (Newsome), two former teen moms have worked their asses off to see their daughters all the way through high school graduation. And now, at 35, they're ready to make up for the youth they never had. Whitley will play Phoebe's mom Edna; with Elyse as Phoebe's daughter Angela; and Quinn as Liz's daughter Grace. Additionally, ABC Studios has been confirmed as a co-producer. (Deadline.com)
