AMERICANAH (HBO Max) - Corey Hawkins is bound for the limited series as Blaine, "Ifemelu's (Lupita Nyong'o) present-day boyfriend and Yale Professor, who is madly in love with her. Deeply passionate about social injustices, he tutors at risk youth and organizes protests for a wrongly accused black Yale security guard." (Deadline.com)
BINTI (Hulu, New!) - Nnedi Okorafor is looking to bring her award-winning book to the small screen at the streaming service. "Set in a technologically and socially advanced future, it tells the story of a brilliant and rebellious young woman who is destined to lead her community in Africa." She'll co-write the pilot script alongside Stacy Osei-Kuffour for Media Res with the company's Michael Ellenberg and Dani Gorin also executive producing and co-executive producing, respectively. DUBLIN MURDERS (Starz) - The pay channel is in talks to renew the series for a second season. (Deadline.com)
FIGHT LIKE A GIRL (Quibi) - WWE superstars Sasha Banks, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss, Sonya Deville, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch and Natalya have been cast as participants in the upcoming series in which "each female wrestler as she shares her life experiences with a young woman dealing with personal issues that are holding her back." LITTLE AMERICA (Apple TV+) - Co-creator Lee Eisenberg has signed a multi-year overall deal with the company. In addition to "Little America," he'll develop new series projects via his Piece of Work banner. (Deadline.com)
PEOPLE JUST DO NOTHING (Amazon) - The streaming service has passed on the pilot for its import of the British comedy, a mockumentary following a group of working class DJs and their friends in a town called North Las Vegas. Writer Mehar Sethi and director Chris Storer were behind the project, with Ash Atalla, Jon Petrie, Hugo Chegwin, Steve Stamp, Asim Chaudhry and Allan Mustafa also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
PERRY MASON (HBO) - Executive producers Robert Downey, Jr. and Susan Downey have signed a one-year, first-look deal with the pay channel. The pact gives the company first crack at their Team Downey banner's output. (THR.com)
POWER BOOK II: GHOST (Starz) - Method Man has been cast opposite Mary J. Blige in the spin-off series as "ambitious and savvy attorney" Davis Maclean, who "is attracted to the NYC underworld run by Oscar nominee Blige's character, but may find himself entrapped by some secrets from his past." SUPERMAN & LOIS (The CW) - The netlet has ordered the project directly to series in lieu of a pilot order. It is detailed as follows: "SUPERMAN & LOIS stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the world's most famous Super Hero and comic books' most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society. Both Hoechlin and Tulloch have already appeared as these iconic characters in multiple episodes of The CW's DC Super Hero series, including this season's Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover event, which concludes tonight. Based on the characters from DC created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, "SUPERMAN & LOIS" is written and executive produced by Todd Helbing ("The Flash") and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns. The series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television." (Deadline.com)
WALKER (The CW) - The netlet has likewise given the project a series commitment in lieu of a pilot order. It's formally detailed as: "WALKER, a reimagining of the long-running series "Walker, Texas Ranger," stars Jared Padalecki as Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there's harder work to be done at home. He'll attempt to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his family, and find unexpected common ground with his new partner (one of the first women in Texas Rangers' history), while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife's death. "WALKER" is written and executive produced by Anna Fricke ("Being Human," "Valor"), and executive produced by Dan Lin and Lindsay Liberatore and Jared Padalecki.
