BLOOD AND TREASURE/BLUE BLOODS/CHARMED/DIARY OF A FUTURE PRESIDENT/EVIL/NANCY DREW/SEAL TEAM/YOUR HONOR (Various) - Production is expected to begin in the coming weeks on the eight aforementioned series from CBS Television Studios. "Your Honor" and "Blood and Treasure" were both deep into production on their runs prior to the coronavirus shutdown. The others had yet to start their respective seasons. "Blue Bloods" and "Evil" film in New York with "SEAL Team" and "Diary of a Future President" in Los Angeles, and "Charmed" and "Nancy Drew" in Vancouver. (Deadline.com)
CLOSURE (CBS, New!) - Samantha Corbin-Miller has sold a potential drama to the Eye based on the life of baseball Hall of Famer-turned-funeral home owner Andre Dawson. In the project, "a beloved baseball Hall of Famer takes over his uncle's funeral home in an unexpected second chapter of his career in the wake of the unsolved disappearance of his adult son." CBS Television Studios is behind the hour with Franklin Entertainment's DeVon Franklin also executive producing and Jenna Nicholson co-executive producing. Dawson himself will serve as a consultant. GOSSIP GIRL (HBO Max) - The reboot series will start production in New York in October. (Variety.com)
JACK REACHER (Amazon) - Alan Ritchson has booked the title role on the TV series incarnation of Lee Child's international bestselling series of books: "a U.S. Army veteran investigating suspicious activities that frequently put him in danger." Tom Cruise originated the part in the two feature films. (Deadline.com)
MADE BY MADDIE (Nick Jr.) - The cable channel has pulled the animated preschool show "in response to a controversy about similarities between its characters and those in Matthew A. Cherry's Oscar-winning short Hair Love." The 22-episode series was scheduled to bow next Sunday, September 13. (Deadline.com)
MOM (CBS) - Anna Faris is bowing out of the series after seven seasons. "The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career," Farris said in a statement. "I'm so thankful to Chuck, the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I'll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family." Her exit was finalized early into the show's hiatus, allowing the writers to properly address her exit. Production on the new season begins September 14 in Los Angeles. (Deadline.com)
