REDEEMER (FX) - The proposed Patrick Coleman adaptation is not moving forward as star Matthew McConaughey has dropped out of the project while writer Nic Pizzolatto is exiting his first-look deal with Fox 21/Touchstone Television. Said effort was originally set up in January of last year. (THR.com)
SMOAKLAND (Freeform, New!) - Jewel Coronel has sold a single-camera comedy to the cable channel which "centers around Oakland native Solo, the visionary of a budding cannabis company, who navigates family expectations, changing friendships, love, and her drive to break through the "grass" ceiling of the oft-closed terrain of the cannabis industry for herself and her community." 7th Sun Productions' Yara Shahidi and Keri Shahidi as well as Zahir McGhee will also executive produce for ABC Signature.
