BOUNDLESS (Amazon) - Rodrigo Santoro and Álvaro Morte will topline the four-part series, which "tells the story of the first sailing trip around of the world ever completed, in the year of the fifth centenary of the original expedition. Led by the Portuguese Fernando de Magallanes (played by Santoro), 239 sailors set sail from Cádiz, Spain, on August 20, 1519. Three years later, only 18 sailors returned - seriously unwell due to starvation - in the one ship that withstood the journey, which was the one captained by the Spanish sailor Juan Sebastián Elcano (portrayed by Morte)." Also starring are Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adrián Lastra, Carlos Cuevas, Pepón Nieto, Raúl Tejón, Gonçalo Diniz, Manuel Morón and Bárbara Goenaga. Director Simon West, writer Patxi Amezcua and producer Miguel Menéndez de Zubillaga are also among the auspices for MONO Films and KILIMA Media. (Variety.com)

There she must deal with a challenging career in sales and a mother-in-law who has "Karen-like" tendencies." She Ready Productions' Tiffany Haddish and Push It Productions' Wanda Sykes and Page Hurwitz are also on board to executive produce the project, which has a penalty attached, for FOX Entertainment and CBS Studios. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED LAKERS PROJECT (HBO) - The pay channel's 1980s Los Angeles Lakers series has cast Tracy Letts as Jack McKinney, "the original architect of the Lakers' fast paced running game"; Julianne Nicholson as Cranny McKinney, "a coach's wife who is in many ways a coach herself, Cranny McKinney is frank, funny, and tenacious"; Jimel Atkins as Jamaal Wilkes, "the son of a Baptist preacher who converted to Islam, Jamaal Wilkes is thoughtful, good-natured, and soft-spoken"; LisaGay Hamilton as Christine Johnson, "like her son, Christine Johnson is a natural leader in her community; able to command a room with charisma and savvy"; and Andy Hirsch as David Stern, "the organization's legal counsel, determined to use the rivalry between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird to reinvigorate the league - and, hopefully, save it from financial ruin."
