#BLACKAF (Netflix) - Creator Kenya Barris revealed he is "forgoing its planned second season in favor of stand-alone #blackAF family vacation films in the vein of the National Lampoon vacation flicks that he and co-star Rashida Jones grew up loving." (THR.com)
BARRY (HBO) - Emily Heller has signed an overall deal with CBS Studios where she'll develop new series projects on an exclusive basis. (Variety.com)
BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Sean Patrick Flanery, Miles Gaston Villanueva and Nick Wechsler will recur on the upcoming season as "supes" Gunpowder, Supersonic and Blue Hawk, respectively. (Deadline.com)
HORROR OF DOLORES ROACH, THE (Amazon) - Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike and K. Todd Freeman will join Justina Machado in the drama pilot. Hernandez will play Luis, "the charismatic, self-professed neglected culinary visionary behind the dilapidated storefront Empanada Loca in Washington Heights"; with Updike as Nellie Morris, "the kind, confident, and no-nonsense teenager who works behind the Empanada Loca counter and lives upstairs with her agoraphobic grandmother"; and Freeman as Jeremiah, "the man who spends his days standing outside of Empanada Loca holding the door for people for change, and his nights underground in a corner of an abandoned NYC subway tunnel with a community known to some as 'Mole People.'" KRAPOPOLIS (FOX) - Jordan Young has been tapped as showrunner of the upcoming animated comedy series set in mythical ancient Greece from Dan Harmon. (Deadline.com)
STRANGE PLANET (Apple TV+, New!) - Nathan Pyle's webcomic - featuring "stories of big eyed, bright blue 'beings' from a planet that shares a lot in common with Earth" - is set to be the focus of a new animated series at Apple Studios from Dan Harmon and Amalia Levari. ShadowMachine's Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico will executive produce the project, which has a straight-to-series order, alongside said trio, Steve Levy and Taylor Alexy Pyle. (Deadline.com)
TEACHER, A (FX) - Creator Hannah Fidell has struck a first-look deal with FX Productions, home to the aforementioned limited series. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED COBURN & WOOTTON PROJECT (NBC) - Kamal Bolden and Noah Bean have booked the male leads opposite Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathé in the drama pilot. Bolden will play Elgin Turner, "a former FBI agent sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement with a drug cartel. He's married to his childhood sweetheart, FBI agent Val Turner (Bathé)." And Bean will play Jonathan Doak, "the FBI Assistant Director in Charge. He supervises Agent Turner, who's a thorn in his side because she knows more than he does." (Deadline.com)
WEDDING SEASON (Disney+, New!) - The streamer is on track to order a new scripted series billed as "a rom-com action-adventure story." Dancing Ledge Productions and Jax Media are behind the project, from writer Oliver Lyttelton and director George Kane. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
YOU BET YOUR LIFE (Syndication) - The Jay Leno-hosted revival series, due on September 13, is officially a go on stations covering 98% of the U.S. The 180 planned episodes will be distributed by Fox First Run. (Deadline.com)
