BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Disney+) - Fra Fee and Briana Middleton are both bound for the prequel series starring Luke Evans and Josh Gad. Fee will star as Prince Benoit Berlioz, "a childhood friend of Tilly's who has grown into a handsome, charismatic, confident prince." And Middleton will play Tilly, "Louie's stepsister." CITY ON FIRE (Apple TV+) - Chase Sui Wonders has booked a lead role on the upcoming drama, in which "NYU student Samantha (Wonders) is shot in Central Park on the Fourth of July, 2003. Samantha is alone; there are no witnesses and very little physical evidence. Her friends' band is playing her favorite downtown club but she leaves to meet someone, promising to return. She never does. As the crime against Samantha is investigated, she's revealed to be the crucial connection between a series of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep." GUYS WE F****D (FOX, New!) - Corinne Fisher, Krystyna Hutchinson and Kristin Belka Maier are set to team for a multi-camera comedy at the network based on the former duo's podcast, subtitled "The Anti Slut-Shaming Podcast." Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Rick Dorfman, Chris Mills, Kris Koller and Alix Magid will also executive produce the project, billed as "a comedy about a cocky shopgirl and a people pleasing bartender who realize they are platonic soulmates while working at a New Jersey strip mall. Together, they tackle female adulthood while acting as therapists to local men and to each other." Lionsgate Television, FOX Entertainment, The Tannenbaum Company, Authentic Management Productions and Seven Summits Pictures & Management are co-producing. (Deadline.com)
HOW I MET YOUR FATHER/LOVE, VICTOR/THIS IS US (Hulu/NBC) - Executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger have signed a new three-year overall deal with 20th Television, their home for the past decade. There they'll continue on the aforementioned series as well as develop new series projects via their The Walk-Up Company banner. (Deadline.com)
JUMPMEN (Showtime, New!) - Shaye Ogbonna has sold a potential drama to the pay channel about "the cutthroat world of the sneaker industry, centering on a self-made sneaker exec turned industry power broker. As the business changes around him, and old friends become adversaries, he must decide what's more important-industry capital or cultural relevance." Justin Hillian will also executive produce for Showtime and 3 Arts Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
L.A. LAW (ABC) - Toks Olagundoye, Hari Nef and Ian Duff are the latest bound for the revival series pilot. Olagundoye will play Assistant District Attorney Erika Jackson, "a force to be reckoned with in the courtroom, but is confronted by the role she plays in a carceral system as a deft attorney and as a woman of color." Nef then is Alana Burke, "a transgender lawyer who's so formidable and creative in the courtroom that she makes actual headlines for her outside the box thinking"; with Duff as junior associate JJ Freeman, "an idealistic hard-charger who has no problem speaking truth to power, including to his idol, Jonathan Rollins (Underwood), with whom he has fundamental disagreements about what it means to be a Black man in America in 2022." MOON KNIGHT (Disney+) - Gaspard Ulliel, who passed away on Tuesday following a ski accident, has been revealed as a cast member of the upcoming Marvel Studios series. He plays Anton Mogart/Midnight Man. (Deadline.com)
WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN (Apple TV+, New!) - Gina Rodriguez is attached to star in a proposed TV incarnation of Pedro Almodovar's 1988 film, about "the romantic mishaps of voice actors who dub foreign films." Rodriguez will play Pepa, who was originally portrayed by Carmen Maura in the feature. Noelle Valdivia is penning the project with Rodriguez, Almodovar, Molly Breeskin, Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell also executive producing for I Can and I Will Productions, El Deseo, 3Pas Studios and Lionsgate Television. Sonia Gambaro will co-produce. (THR.com)
