CHOSEN ONE, THE (A.K.A. AMERICAN JESUS) (Netflix) - The streamer has confirmed co-stars Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar died in a tragic accident that occurred last Thursday. "All of us on the production of The Chosen One are shocked by the tragic accident that occurred last Thursday, while on transit from Santa Rosalía, Baja California, to the local airport," the statement reads. "We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleagues Ray Garduño and Juan Francisco González and are closely supporting all those affected by this unspeakable tragedy. Redrum has been cooperating with local authorities and initial reports and accounts from witnesses indicate that all safety protocols were in place and this was an unfortunate accident." GROUNDSWELL (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, New!) - Lacey Chabert and Ektor Rivera will star in an adaptation of Katie Lee Biegel's debut novel at the network, in which "on the heels of a personal and professional setback, Atlanta chef Emma (Chabert) travels to Hawaii where she meets Ben (Rivera), a handsome, reclusive surf instructor whose lessons help her to regain her footing." Lee Friedlander is directing the film, due on August 21, from a script by Carlie Mantilla and John Eliot Jordan. Biegel and Cameron Johann executive produce for Crown Media Productions with Ric Galindez and Roy Tjioe as producers. (Deadline.com)
POKER FACE (Peacock) - Natasha Lyonne and Rian Johnson's top secret series has cast Tim Meadows, Jameela Jamil, Nicholas Cirillo, Audrey Corsa and Niall Cunningham in yet-to-be-revealed roles. (Variety.com)
