GORDON RAMSAY: UNCHARTED SHOWDOWN/WORLD OF FLAVOR WITH BIG MOE CASON (NGC, New!) - The cable channel will drop a pair of new food-themed series on Monday, July 25. In "Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted Showdown" (three parts), "Gordon faces off against UK star chefs Paul Ainsworth and Matt Waldron, who got their starts in Ramsay kitchens before opening their own restaurants. With Paul and Matt working on their home turf, Gordon has to dig deep in the final cooks to prevent his students from becoming the masters. While in Costa Rica, Gordon faces his biggest challenge yet: going head-to-head with his daughter Tilly, the multi-BAFTA Award-nominated CBBC cooking show star and cookbook author, in an epic culinary showdown in the series finale." And in "World of Flavor with Big Moe Cason" (four parts), "the Navy veteran and champion pitmaster embarks on an epic journey to seek out the most mouthwatering dishes cooked over an open flame. In the four-part series, Cason dives for fresh conch in the Bahamas, roasts ‘gator in Louisiana, connects with his roots in South Carolina and braves piranha-infested waters in Colombia. Along the way, Moe explores the connections between American barbecue and cultures around the world." Gordon Ramsay, Lisa Edwards, Tom Willis and Jon Kroll will executive produce the former for Studio Ramsay Global while executive producers Rob Shaftel and Elizabeth Ashe and co-executive producers Matt Koed and Noah Korn are behind Hit + Run's latter. (Deadline.com)
INVISIBLE GIRL, THE (Disney+, New!) - Beta Film and Morena Films are set to team for an eight-hour series at the streamer based on the trilogy of books from YA author Blue Jeans. Daniel Grao and Zoe Stein star as "a father and daughter involved in the investigation of a murdered teenage girl in the picturesque fictional town of Cárdena, set in Andalusia, in what's billed as an "atmospheric thriller." The two are forced to put their differences aside and to succumb their tense relationship in order to solve the murder case rocking a supposedly peaceful town, where all inhabitants are suspects." Tito López Amado and Aritz Moreno are directing from scripts by Carmen López-Areal, Marina Efron, Antonio Hernández Centeno, Ramón Tarrés and Ian de la Rosa. Pedro Uriol is executive producing. (Deadline.com)
TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE, THE (HBO) - The pay channel has canceled the series, just a few weeks after completing its run. "Though HBO will not be moving forward with a second season of The Time Traveler's Wife, it was our privilege to partner with master storytellers Steven Moffat and David Nutter," a spokeswoman told the publication. "We are so grateful for their passion, hard work and care for adapting this beloved book. We also thank Theo and Rose, and the rest of our brilliant cast for their heartfelt performances, which completely captivated audiences." (Deadline.com)
WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (FX) - Parisa Fakhri will drop by seven episodes of the new season as Marwa, "one of Nandor's 37 wives from his days as an ancient warrior in the kingdom of Al Quolanudar." (Deadline.com)
WHY WOMEN KILL (Paramount+) - The streamer has shuttered the anthology's proposed third season. "Paramount+ has made the difficult decision not to move forward with Season 3 of ‘Why Women Kill,'" a spokesperson told the publication. "We would like to thank our partners at CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studios, the amazing creator and showrunner Marc Cherry and the incredible writers, cast and crew for two memorable seasons."
