"CMT Storytellers: Darius Rucker" to premiere Wednesday, August 31st at 10pm ET/PT

NASHVILLE, TN - August 10, 2022 - CMT today announced three-time GRAMMY(R) award-winning singer-songwriter Darius Rucker is set to headline the second installment of the recently revived iconic music series "CMT Storytellers," premiering on Wednesday, August 31st at 10pm ET/PT on CMT. Additional encores to air on CMT on Wednesday, August 31 at 11p/10c and Sunday, September 4 at 12p/11c and on CMT Music on Friday, September 9 at 8p/7c and Saturday, September 10 at 10a/9c and 6p/5c.

The one-hour "CMT Storytellers: Darius Rucker" special concert event will feature performances and never-before-heard stories about how the country icon's smash hits came to be in front of an intimate audience. The night is set to feature music from Rucker's robust solo career, in addition to his time as front-man of the Diamond-certified band Hootie & The Blowfish, giving an insider's look at Rucker's songwriting process, life in the industry, and career.

"There have been so many nights when someone comes up to me after a show and tells me what a song means to them, when they first heard it or how it became a song at a pivotal moment in their life, played at a wedding or even a memorial," offers Rucker. "The way music connects and how the story evolves for each person differently is perhaps the coolest aspect of music, which is what makes a show like CMT Storytellers so special as I think we can always use more moments of connection."

"CMT Storytellers" gives fans a front row seat with behind-the-scenes access to their favorite artists and music. Legendary duo Brooks & Dunn kicked off the series revival this spring, performing their hits including "Neon Moon," "Red Dirt Road" and "Boot Scootin Boogie." The Storytellers franchise originally aired on VH1 from 1996-2015 and quickly became a cultural touchstone, featuring some of the biggest names in music including Garth Brooks, The Chicks, Pearl Jam, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift, among others.

"CMT Storytellers" is executive produced by CMT's Margaret Comeaux, Switched On Entertainment's John Hamlin and Ladypants Productions' Patrizia DiMaria. Jackie Barba and Heather D. Graffagnino serve as Executives in Charge of Production. Leslie Fram is Executive in Charge of Talent; Shanna Strassberg is Talent Producer. Directed by Lauren Quinn.

About Darius Rucker:

Rucker first achieved multi-Platinum status in the music industry as lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the GRAMMY Award-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish, who have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide including their Diamond-certified debut Cracked Rear View, which remains among the Top 10 best-selling studio albums of all time. Since releasing his first Country album in 2008, Rucker has earned a whole new legion of fans with four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart, including RIAA Platinum-certified Learn to Live and True Believers, plus 10 No. 1 singles at Country radio and 11 Gold, Platinum or multi-Platinum certified hits. Rucker was inducted as a Grand Ole Opry member in 2012 and in 2014 he won his third career GRAMMY Award for Best Solo Country Performance with his 9x Platinum version of Old Crow Medicine Show's "Wagon Wheel," one of the Top 5 best-selling Country songs of all time. He co-hosted the 54th annual CMA Awards in 2020 and topped the charts at Country radio once again with "Beers And Sunshine" in 2021. New songs "My Masterpiece" and "Same Beer Different Problem" are available everywhere now as Rucker puts the finishing touches on a forthcoming album. As a lifelong philanthropist, Rucker co-chaired the capital campaign that generated $150 million to help build the new MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital in his hometown of Charleston, S.C. and has raised over $3 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through his annual Darius & Friends benefit concert and golf tournament. Rucker has also advocated for over 200 charitable causes supporting public education and junior golf programs in South Carolina through the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation and serves as a National Chair for the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, Tenn.
