1923 (Paramount+) - Joseph Mawle is bound for the "Yellowstone" prequel series as Captain Shipley, "the captain of a British cargo ship, who has seen a lot during his years at sea." (Variety.com)
BLOCKBUSTER (Netflix) - The streamer has pulled the plug on the comedy series after one season. (Deadline.com)
FOR BETTER AND WORSE (NBC, New!) - Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson have landed a new drama at the network which "follow the evolution of one couple, intercutting between three different stages of their marriage - when they're just starting to date, when they have young kids, and when they are empty nesters." Rachel Kaplan will also executive produce via her Universal Television-based Absecon Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
FRANCHISE, THE (HBO) - Sam Mendes and Armando Iannucci's comedy pilot has cast Billy Magnussen as Adam; Jessica Hynes as Steph; Darren Goldstein as Pat; Lolly Adefope as Dag; Isaac Powell as Peter; Daniel Brühl as Eric; and Richard E. Grant as Peter. No other character specifics were given about the project, which follows a hopeful crew trapped inside the dysfunctional, nonsensical, joyous hellscape of franchise superhero moviemaking. (Deadline.com)
MYTH OF THE ZODIAC KILLER (Peacock, New!) - Texas Crew Productions and Pyramid Productions are developing a new reality series at the streamer "asking the question, what if the reason the Zodiac killer has never been caught... is because he never existed in the first place?" Brad Bernstein, Andrew Nock, Ann Paterno, Cynthia Childs, David Karabinas and James Buddy Day are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
PITCH PERFECT: BUMPER IN BERLIN (Peacock) - The streaming service is reportedly "finalizing a Season 2 renewal" for the recently launched comedy series. (Deadline.com)
QUEEN'S COURT (Peacock, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a 10-episode dating series in which "three single "Queens" - Tamar Braxton, Evelyn Lozada and Nivea - team up their dating lives to find the other half of their power couple." Husband-and-wife duo Holly Robinson Pete and Rodney Pete will host the project, "whose relationship insights guide the Queens through the ups and downs of dating a pool of 21 confident and successful men." Will Packer and Kelly Smith of Will Packer Media; Jeff Spangler and Rob LaPlante of Lighthearted Entertainment; and Trifari Williams are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UNPRISONED (Hulu) - Faly Rakotohavana and Jordyn McIntosh have both been cast in the upcoming comedy series. Rakotohavana will play Finn: "Super-logical (a gamer), low-key but hilarious, sweet, smart and hyper-rational, Finn is the son of single mom/family therapist/influencer Paige (Kerry Washington). Finn is open hearted and open-minded toward his grandfather, and their relationship becomes a bridge home for Edwin - and a bridge into the world for Finn." And McIntosh is Little Paige: "Seven-year-old Little Paige is the personification of grown-up Paige's Inner Child, she's the part of Paige untouched by everything that has happened in her life - losing her mother, foster care, a dad in prison. She shows up regularly, speaking directly to us (and to Paige) with a hilarious and incisive wisdom of the all-knowing child." (Deadline.com)
WARHAMMER 40,000 (Amazon, New!) - Amazon Studios has landed the film and TV rights to the Games Workshop franchise - which includes "miniatures, sourcebooks, tabletop games, animations, novels, a wealth of licensed material and video games" - with Henry Cavill set to star in and executive produce. The GAW property is detailed as follows: "Warhammer 40,000 is set in the far future, where humanity stands at the edge of what might be its brightest future, or its darkest age. The threats to humankind's empire are many: traitors driven by the fires of ambition, alien empires sworn to reclaim the stars and the corruption of reality by malevolent gods." Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and Natalie Viscuso as well as GAW's Andy Smillie and Max Bottrill will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
WORLD'S MOST NOTORIOUS KILLERS (Peacock, New!) - The streamer has likewise ordered "an anthological series that dives into shocking crimes that have taken place around the globe." ITN is behind the project, the first six-episode installment of which "will focus on the notorious British "Bonnie and Clyde," Fred and Rose West, who went on a multi-year crime killing spree in the UK."
