Emerson Will Join Wife Carrie Preston Onscreen in a Recurring Role on Season Two of the Hit Series from CBS Television Network and CBS Studios

Oct. 20, 2024 - CBS Studios and the CBS Television Network announced today that Emmy Award winner Michael Emerson has joined the second season of ELSBETH in a recurring role beginning with an episode airing Thursday, Dec. 12 on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*.

The announcement was made during today's ELSBETH panel at New York Comic-Con that featured a sneak peek at the upcoming Halloween episode and an exclusive conversation with co-creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King, showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Tolins and cast members Carrie Preston and Wendell Pierce. Emerson joined Preston and the others on stage to deliver the news himself. The discussion was moderated by ELSBETH guest star Laura Benanti.

Emerson will join the critically acclaimed series as a foil to his wife's Elsbeth Tascioni, in which he will play Judge Milton Crawford, a haughty, soft-spoken and bespectacled man from an old New England family of public servants who sees his place in the nation's elite as a birthright. Additional episode dates will be announced at a later date.

Produced by CBS Studios, ELSBETH stars Emmy Award winner Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni, the astute but unconventional consent decree attorney working with the NYPD to catch New York's most well-heeled murderers utilizing her unique point of view. Season two of the critically acclaimed series brings new cases and challenges when mistakes of the past come back to haunt Elsbeth, her boss Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce) and detective-in-training Officer Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson).

Widely known for captivating and mysterious roles, Michael Emerson is a two-time Emmy Award winner for his roles on "The Practice" and "Lost." Emerson starred as Leland Townsend on EVIL, which recently wrapped its fourth and final season on Paramount+.

Additional television credits include starring roles in the hit series PERSON OF INTEREST on the Network and the mini-series "The Name of the Rose," based on the bestseller by Umberto Eco. Among his many guest appearances are roles on WITHOUT A TRACE, "Law & Order," "The X-Files, "Parenthood" and "Fallout." His film work includes "The Laramie Project," "The Legend of Zorro," "The Imposters" and the first of the "Saw" movies.

ELSBETH is based on the character featured in THE GOOD WIFE and THE GOOD FIGHT. Robert King, Michelle King, Jonathan Tolins, Liz Glotzer, Erica Shelton Kodish, Bryan Goluboff and Gail Barringer serve as executive producers. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
