Including New Case Details, Two-Hour Special Examines the 50-Year Quest to Identify a Murdered Woman and Her Killer, Which Unexpectedly Dovetailed into One Man's Search for His Birth Mother

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Oct. 30, 2024 - Oxygen, the home of high-quality, true-crime programming, examines the decades-long investigation of the murder of an unknown woman found in the dunes of Provincetown, Mass. Her vicious killing haunted and stymied even the most seasoned members of the town's police department, and surprisingly coincided with a man's pursuit to identify his birth mother.

The two-hour premiere of "Lady of the Dunes: Hunting a Cape Cod Killer" begins Friday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and concludes Saturday, Nov. 30 at 9 p.m.

In 1974, the idyllic and close-knit community of Provincetown was stunned when the body of an unidentified woman was discovered in a remote area of the dunes. Over the next 50 years, investigators worked tirelessly to identify her, relentless in their pursuit of her killer and her name. The twists and turns of the Lady of the Dunes mystery tell the story of a hidden family, a suspect's violent past and a detective willing to sacrifice her career for answers.

Exclusive information in the special includes:

· Never-before-aired details about the investigation, including the most extensive allegations about contaminated DNA samples and lost physical evidence from the crime scene.

· First extensive on-camera interviews with Provincetown detectives who worked on the case, including Meredith Lobur, who details her attempts to identify the Lady of the Dunes, the obstacles she said she faced from her own police chief and the personal consequences of her persistent efforts to solve the case.

· New details about how the FBI got involved in the Lady of the Dunes investigation, which led to solving the case.

· The most extensive interviews with the Lady of the Dunes family members, including a close relative, Richard Hanchett.
