discovery+ Migrates Technology Infrastructure, Unlocking Expanded Suite of Product Features
Today, Warner Bros. Discovery announced that discovery+ (U.S. and Canada) will migrate to a modernized in-house tech stack. The move brings discovery+ to the same technical platform and infrastructure that powers Max globally. This update will seamlessly enable the same feature capabilities across various Warner Bros. Discovery streaming apps, establishing a unified code baseline while preserving the flexibility to customize brand elements - such as color, design, and more - to meet the unique needs of company's app portfolio.
"This is a huge win, not only for our internal teams but also for our subscribers," said Avi Saxena, CTO, Warner Bros. Discovery. "We've been driving rapid innovation across our platforms, and now, all of our streaming products will benefit from a richer feature set. A singular unified platform has been central to our technology strategy, and this marks a major milestone in that journey."
In addition to a more performant app and video experience, highlights of new discovery+ features include:
· Refined Homepage and Navigation
· Enhanced Personalization Recommendations
· In-Player Discovery Improvements: In player discovery allows viewers to effortlessly switch between episodes and personalized content recommendations within the video player, streamlining the viewing experience and making it easier to enjoy the content they love.
· User sign-in via QR code
· Mobile Social Sharing: The content detail on the mobile app now includes a "Share" button for adult profile users to easily share show recommendations via text or social media.
discovery+ subscribers can check out new and classic series from HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, Discovery Channel and explore films, originals and specials from CNN - all in one place. From Baylen Out Loud, to The Baldwins, Tournament of Champions, Naked & Afraid, 90 Day Fiancé, Homestead Rescue, and Fixer to Fabulous, discovery+ has an exciting library of fan favorites.
