Legendary Producer Pete Macheska Prepares for Final World Series
NEW YORK - On the field and behind-the-scenes, legends are written in October. And the story begins once again as FOX Sports prepares for Major League Baseball's ultimate crown jewel - the World Series presented by Capital One.
Action leads off Friday, Oct. 24, between the National League and current reigning World champion Los Angeles Dodgers and American League champion Toronto Blue Jays from Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada, on FOX, FOX Deportes, the FOX Sports App and FOX One.
Collectively, the FOX MLB analysts covering the Fall Classic bring an unprecedented 51 Postseason appearances, two LCS MVPs, two World Series MVPs and 10 World Series championships to the network's coverage.
STAR-STUDDED STUDIO COVERAGE
On-site coverage begins at 7:00 PM ET on FOX with first-ballot Hall of Famers Derek Jeter and David Ortiz, along with World Series champion Alex Rodriguez, offering their unique insights to the Emmy Award-winning FOX MLB studio desk anchored by veteran host Kevin Burkhardt.
Ahead of Game 1, Burkhardt sits down with Shohei Ohtani, coming off arguably the greatest performance in Postseason history enroute to securing NLCS MVP honors, for an exclusive one-on-one interview, backdropped by Dodger Stadium. The once in a generation, dual-threat discusses the mindset he has going into his second World Series appearance.
Award-winning reporters Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci also are set to contribute to the pregame show, in addition to highlighted features from the renowned Tom Rinaldi.
EMMY AWARD-WINNING GAME COVERAGE
In the Emmy Award-winning booth, lead play-by-play announcer Joe Davis is joined by first-ballot Hall of Famer John Smoltz, with Rosenthal and Verducci providing updates from respective baselines.
Posted in the production truck, lead producer Pete Macheska prepares for his final World Series broadcast after a remarkable 22-year run. Under his tenure, Macheska has been "the man in the chair" for moments that echo throughout Major League Baseball history - when the Boston Red Sox broke the "Curse of the Bambino" in 2004, the ending of the Chicago Cubs' 108-year championship drought and the league's first-ever Field of Dreams Game with a conclusion no one could've scripted, to name a few. Macheska leaves behind a lasting impact on how FOX Sports covers baseball, and on the crew he has worked alongside and mentored.
WORLD SERIES ON FOX TECH
Augmented Reality (AR) takes center stage with the FOX Sports' World Series production tech lineup highlighted by next gen UmpCam and Swing Tracker graphics. Aerial production drones, piloted by Beverly Hills Aerials, are back for the Fall Classic, along with DirtCams and FlyCams. The network will deploy 20 operated cameras, 10 with high-speed capture, as well as multiple wireless RF/RF MOVI, ROBO and POV cameras. More than 50 microphones will capture sounds of the game, including several mounted inside of the bases.
FOX DEPORTES
The leader in Spanish-language MLB coverage for more than two decades, the network's roster is led by veteran play-by-play announcer Adrian Garcia-Marquez, analyst and former MLB infielder Edgar Gonzalez, announcer/reporter Carlos Alvarez, reporter/analyst Jaime Motta and reporter Michelle Liendo. Rolando Nichols helms studio coverage from Los Angeles.
In addition to live broadcasts of each game, the network's daily sports news program, TOTAL SPORTS 360, offers highlights, interviews and live reports throughout the World Series.
