ANIMORPHS (Disney+, New!) - Bayan Wolcott is spearheading a proposed series at the streaming service based on Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant's book series, which "follows a group of teenagers who uncover a hidden threat lurking beneath their everyday lives, all while juggling relationships, curfews, and the chaos of High School." Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler of Proximity Media and Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman of Scholastic will also executive produce for 20th Television. Nickelodeon was previously home to a live-action adaptation from 1998 and 2000. (Variety.com, 4/3)
BISHOP (Amazon) - Xavier Samuel has been cast in the upcoming drama as Anthony "Ant" Graves, "Bishop Graves (Joel Kinnaman) younger brother." (Deadline.com, 3/31)
BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES, THE (Apple TV) - Writer David E. Kelley and director Matt Reeves are set to team for a TV take on the famed Tom Wolfe novel at the streamer: "The tale unfolds as a Wall Street bond trader named Sherman McCoy, the quintessential master of the universe, lives a charmed life until he takes a wrong turn, ends up in the Bronx, and his frightened mistress takes the wheel and runs over a Black man who approached the couple. Cue the mayhem." Sarah Geismer and Matthew Tinker will also executive produce for Warner Bros. Television, 6th and Idaho Productions, and David E. Kelley Productions. Amazon previously mounted an adaptation in 2016 from Margaret Nagle that never moved forward. (Deadline.com, 4/2)
DARK WINDS (AMC) - Noel Fisher and Devin Sampson-Craig are set to recur on the show's fifth season as Michael Jorie, "a dangerous killer with a warped sense of righteousness and piety to his beliefs that fuel his involvement in a southwestern gang with a long history of violence"; and Daniel Ironwater, Jr., "a skilled ranch-hand whose time in Vietnam has left him conflicted and heading down the wrong path," respectively. (Deadline.com, 3/31)
DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL (Peacock, New!) - Matt Dinniman's book series is being developed as a live-action series by the streamer: "An alien invasion has wiped out most of humanity and any survivors are forced to fight for their lives on a sadistic intergalactic game show. Sounds bad, right? Now try doing it with bare feet and a stuck-up, self-centered, tiara-wearing talking cat as your partner. Welcome to Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, where the apocalypse will be televised ... and Coast Guard vet Carl finds himself stuck with his ex-girlfriend's award-winning show cat, Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk, as they try to survive the end of the world, fighting monsters, aliens, an insane A.I. and even other survivors ... all for the sake of good TV. Survival is optional. Entertainment is not." Christopher Yost is penning the script and will executive produce alongside Dinniman, Seth MacFarlane, and Erica Huggins for Fuzzy Door and Universal International Studios. (Variety.com, 4/2)
DUTTON RANCH (Paramount Network) - Berto Colón and Hart Denton are slated to recur on the series as Miguel, "a dutiful cowboy who is quiet but formidable"; and Chet, "an employee at a major rival ranch," respectively. (Deadline.com, 3/30)
EASTERN GATE, THE (PRZESMYK) (HBO Max) - The streamer has confirmed its Polish drama will return for a second season: "After the dramatic events in Minsk, Ewa (Lena Góra) simply vanishes into thin air. Nine months later, despite an intensive search by Polish intelligence, her fate remains unknown. Is she dead? Is she in the hands of Belarusian intelligence? Two agents from Polish and Ukrainian intelligence set out on a mission to find her. A race between the agencies and a race against time begins in the face of the inevitably approaching conflict in Ukraine." (Variety.com, 4/2)
GROUP CHAT (Hulu) - The streamer has passed on the comedy pilot starring La La Anthony. (Deadline.com, 4/3)
LOVE ON THE SPECTRUM U.S. (Netflix) - The streamer has renewed the franchise's U.S. incarnation for a fifth season. Additionally, Connor Tomlinson has confirmed "he will not return for the upcoming installment as he pivots toward an acting career." (Variety.com, 4/3)
PITT, THE (HBO Max) - Ayesha Harris's Parker Ellis will be promoted to regular for the series' third season while Supriya Ganesh's Samira Mohan is exiting after two seasons. (Variety.com, 4/2)
RUNAROUNDS, THE (Amazon) - The streaming service has canceled the music drama series after one season. (Deadline.com, 4/3)
THUNDER ROAD (AMC) - Dennis Quaid will topline the NASCAR-themed drama from John Fusco, which has opened a writers' room and targeted a summer production start. Quaid will play racing legend Duane Whitlock aka "The Wrecking Ball," "a towering figure who built a racing empire from a legacy of moonshine runs and dirt tracks and refuses to let it die. The series is further described as a story about a blue-collar dynasty at the edge of extinction - and the old king fighting to hold onto his crown." Taylor Elmore, Cliff Roberts, Mark L. Smith, Tim Clark, and John Dahl will also executive produce with Gladys Cheng as a producer. (Deadline.com, 4/1)
TOMB RAIDER (Amazon) - Filming has been halted on the series due to a "minor injury" experienced by star Sophie Turner. "As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover," Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement. "We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible." (Deadline.com, 3/29)
UNTITLED COLIN JOST PROJECT (Peacock, New!) - Colin Jost is attached to star in a proposed drama for the streamer: "By day, Larry Lavin (Jost) was a respected Ivy League dentist and family man - by night, the East Coast's most elusive cocaine kingpin. This series is inspired by the shocking and absurd true story of the suburban dentist who built a drug empire behind the façade of the American dream." Alex Barnow is behind the project, which is based on Season 1 of the Audacy podcast "Wolves Among Us." Jost, Jeff Grosvenor, and Rachel Kaplan will also executive produce for Universal Television, No Notes Productions, and Absecon Entertainment. Larry Lavin, Matt Davis, and Steve Seidel serve as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com, 4/2)
UNTITLED TRACY OLIVER PROJECT (Hulu, New!) - La La Anthony is back in business with the streamer for a new project from Tracy Oliver: "In the untitled half-hour, written/executive produced by Oliver, when the Bay Area's most sought-after crisis manager for professional athletes (the role earmarked for Anthony) finds her own life upended by her husband's scandal, she turns to the three women who've been by her side through every version of her life. Together they navigate dating, ambition, motherhood, and the glamorous mess of starting over." Kim Kardashian will executive produce alongside said duo for 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 4/3)
VANDERPUMP VILLA (Hulu) - "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" cast member Dakota Mortensen is being edited out of the show's third season, due on April 16. Said decision comes as production has been paused on "Mormon Wives" after allegations of domestic violence between Mortensen and his ex, Taylor Frankie Paul, whose season of "The Bachelorette" has likewise been nixed. (Variety.com, 4/3)
VOUGHT RISING (Amazon) - James Wolk, Dylan Arnold, Josh Randall, and Chad Willett will recur on "The Boys" prequel series in yet-to-be-revealed roles. (Deadline.com, 3/30)
